Interessante opera che analizza la situazione geopolitica del mediterraneo agli inizi del XX secolo del noto giornalista e viaggiatore Vico Mantegazza. L'autore fu corrispondente di guerra dal 1884, redattore capo del “Corriere della Sera” e diresse successivamente le testate “L’Italia” di Milano e la “Nazione” di Firenze. In questo studio l'autore analizza la situazione della marina da guerra e di quella mercantile italiana, Salonicco, le isole di Piscopi Scapanto Simi Stampalia Calimmo Cassos Cos Kalkia Leros Lipsos Nisiros Patmos e l'invasione turca, la situazione di Cipro, l'Impresa di Tripoli, l'accordo Italo-Austriaco, l'Isola di Saseno, L'Albania e le sue isole (con un capitolo dedicato all'argomento), La neuralità di Corfù e Paxo ecc. Il testo è accompagnato da 55 belle tavole fuori testo con immagini di vari porti e di alcune isole. Prima edizione in buone condizioni di consevazione.
