Eccellente incisione creata dal maestro Pierre Jean Francis Turpin. Le scritte indicanti la specie e la descrizione della pianta o animale sono in italiano e/o latino, e provengono dalla prima edizione italiana del Dizionario di scienze naturali edito da Battelli nel 1831. Quest'opera imponente era composta da 29 volumi ed era corredata da centinaia di incisioni che rappresentavano tutto il mondo animale e vegetale. L'opera deriva da un eccellente lavoro di luminari del XVIII secolo supportati dal Re francese Louis XV in seguito guidati dallo stesso Turpin, considerato al tempo il più grande incisore di botanica. La maggior parte delle incisioni sono firmate Turpin & Pretre. Le incisioni sono veramente eccezionali con una grande dovizia di particolari e dipinte a mano. Carta bianchissima e resistente di ottima qualità. Formato foglio: cm 25,5x17. Formato incisione: 15,5x9 Autore: Corsi su disegno di Turpin In buone condizioni. Superb engraving made by the master Pierre Jean Francis Turpin. The engravings are written in latin and italian and come from the first italian edition of Dictionary of natural sciences edited by Battelli in 1831. This imponent work was made up by 29 volumes and contained hundreds of engravings that represented all the plant and animal kingdom. This work derives from an excellent work of luminaries of the 18th century supported by the french King Louis XV and then directed by the same Turpin that was considered as the greatest botanical engraver of his time. The most of his engravings are signed Turpin & Pretre. The engravings are made in an excellent way with fine details and coloured by hand. Very white strong paper of good quality. In good condition. Petite déchirure sans manque à la page de titre. Exemplaire convenable néanmoins. Botany-Bay, sur l'une des cotes orientales de l'Australie fut choisie en 1787 par l'Angleterre comme terre de déportation de ses condamnés, marquant ainsi le début de la colonisation du continent australien. Cet ouvrage fournissant de nombreux renseignements sur la vie dans cette colonie pénitentiaire et plus généralement sur l'Australie de l'époque condamne par l'exemple ce type peine comme moyen de colonisation.

Due collies, ossia due cani da pastore scozzesi, appartenenti a una signora di Melbourne (Australia) erano caduti in un pozzo di miniera dei dintorni e la loro proprietaria, non vedendoli più tornare, aveva creduto a una loro fuga. Ma in seguito notava che un terzo collie da lei posseduto si allontanava spesso...e scoperse che il cane andava a gettare quel cibo nel pozzo dove stavano prigionieri i suoi due compagni.

The final volume in R.B. Plowman's fine 'Inland trilogy'. He was an Australian Inland Mission missionary in the region from Hawker to Birdsville; when the events recorded here took place 'Motor cars aeroplanes and wireless sets had not made their appearance in Central Australia' from the Author's Note.
