‎Bellows Falls VT: Brownie Segar. Very Good. 1941. Letters. Condition: These 5 pieces of historical genealogical ephemera are all in near fine condition. The original envelope are slightly dust soiled. As stated previously the 4th letter has no envelope. ; Brownie was originally from Fitchburg Massachussets one letter is from Fitchburg and he refers to Fitchburg in his letters as being "home". The first letter is dated June 6 1939 on the postmark. Brownie asks his aunt if she would like to attend his graduation. The second letter is dated Oct. 14 1940 on the postmark it is from Chester Vermont and the contents include thanking her for his "pleasant vacation down there with you" the shop he works in running 12 hour shifts Aunt Mary's insinuation of "ladies getting kissed" and he tells her girls don't interest him in the least; the books and poetry he has been reading "his "little red-headed friend" buying him a chemistry book his old "Chevy" having work done and his boss building a new home. The third letter dated Jan. 17 1941 on the postmark Brownie is still working 12 hour shifts at the shop he has had the flu his little red-headed girlfriend being very nice to him while he has been sick his Mom started him a bank account his girl got him a lathe for Christmas how he is thinking of taking a correspondence course as it is all he can afford and how he hopes to get down to see her this summer. The fourth letter has no envelope so there is no date asks Aunt Mary to excuse the pencil Vermont not quite as lovely as it is summer now getting acquainted with "children" his own age how he is now working evenings and is in now in charge of "Dept M-10" bar automatics from 5pm til 3 am all alone with 7 machines. He asks if he may come and visit her at the end of the month as he would like to see Roger Williams Park all the beaches and Westerly again and eat Aunt Carey's Clam Cakes. The fifth and final letter is postmarked March 27 1941 and is written from Bellows Falls Vermont. He thanks her for not getting angry at him for getting married at his age thanking her for the gift about his wife Connie how they would like to come down and visit as they are working 5 days a week each 12 hour shifts etc. These are one of a kind items. .
