Originaltrykket af Ørsteds tidlige forsøg over klangfigurerne, som opnåedes ved at stryge kanterne af en glas-eller metalplade hvorpå der var udstrøet sand eller metalpulver, med en violinbue. Han fandt her naturlige, lovmæssige sammenhænge mellem toner og fysiske fænomener. Forsøgene vidererfører Chladnis forskning over disse figurer, idet denne opdagede fænomenet sidst i 1700-tallet. Afhandlingen blev prisbelønnet af Videnskabernes Selskab med en sølvmedalje.‎

‎First edition of Ørsted's textbook on his primary field, ""On the Mechanical Part of the Philosophy"", which served as the authoritative textbook on the field for about 50 years in Denmark.Due to his previous work and discoveries, Ørsted had never actually had the time to compose a textbook within his actual field, although his wish to do so kept growing over the years. Thus, he finally decided to begin his work on this and hired a helper (C. Petersen, who had followed his lectures intensely) to do part of the work, namely expanding and editing Ørsted's own material, collecting from other works (mostly foreign textbooks, especially German) the areas on which Ørsted had not written anything, making the index and the corrections. In the preface, Ørsted himself states that ""Naturally, a textbook composed in this manner cannot in all its parts achieve the completeness that could have been achieved, had the author devoted all his time to this"" but since this has not been possible, one will probably be tolerant, as long as the work advances the spreading of that science in the home country."" (the Preface, p. V). Ørsted himself advised against translating the work into other languages (especially German, which would be the language closest to Danish), since many equally good textbooks of this sort already existed in other countries. The book, however, was translated into German and appeared with Ørsted's consent.‎

‎First edition of the first German translation (by Gilbert) of Oersted's epoch-making announcement of his discovery of electromagnetism, printed in the same year as the Latin original. The work originally appeared in Latin as ""Experimenta circa effectum conflictus electrici in acun magneticam. Hafniæ, 1820"""" this Latin pamphlet is impossibly scarce and only a few copies are known, as it was privately printed in a very small number and was only distributed to colleagues in Europe. This discovery and confirmation of the connection between 2 forces, electricity and magnetism, must be considered one of the happiest events in the history of science, both with regard to scientific and practical results.""From the moment that Ørsted's discovery became known it created an enormous sensation. The results communicated were so astounding that they were received with a certain distrust, but they were stated with such accuracy that it could hardly be permitted to entertain any doubts. In the course of a short time the treatise was translated into all the chief languages."" (Kirstine Meyer). In a note Gilbert says, that it is a word by word translation of Oersted's small Latin pamphlet, ""Eine fast wörtliche Uebersetzung des einzeln gedruckten, lateinischen, de 21 Juli 1820 geschriebenen Viertel-Bogens, de von Hrn. Cfr. Poggendorff,I, p. 1298.Carlo Andrian di Werburg (1680-1745), gesuita storico austriaco. Entrò nell'ordine dei gesuiti a Vienna il 10 ottobre 1695. Frequentò l'Università di Graz retta da quell'ordine. In questa città, compì il corso filosofico e, nel 1699, concluse il noviziato. Fu ordinato a Klagenfurt il 2 febbraio 1716.. Tra il 1714 e il 1718 insegnò matematica, filosofia a Klagenfurt e fu predicatore. Negli anni seguenti insegnò pure a Türnau, Buda e Linz.. Erudito di prim'ordine, pubblicò opere di carattere filosofico, matematico ed esegetico, ma soprattutto storico. Tra queste, si ricordano "Corollaria curiosa, ex catoptrico: Dioptricis principiis collecta et pro accademico matematico exercitio publice proposita" (Klagenfurt, 1714).. (così Diz. Il testo è ornato da capilettera e finalini inc. su legno."Rara prima edizione" della più importante opera di fisica matematica del gesuita italiano Jacopo Belgrado. L'opera contiene: nel 1° volume, l'uso dell'analisi applicata ai problemi della fisica e la soluzione di problemi relativi alla statica, l'idraulica, l'astronomia, l'ottica, la balistica, la fisica dei gas, l'architettura, l'acustica e l'igrometria // nel 2° volume i problemi in cui viene utilizzato il calcolo infinitesimale, nonché problemi in cui la geometria viene utilizzata come collegamento necessario tra fisica e matematica. Tra gli argomenti: De viribus centripetis, et centrifugis // De communicatione motus // De centro oscillationis et motu oscillatorio // De viribus motui corporum resistentibus. Iacopo Belgrado (Udine 1704 - Udine 1789), matematico e fisico. Entrò nel 1723 nella compagnia di Gesù, fu professore a Parma dal 1738, risiedette presso quella corte dal 1750 al 1763, poi si recò a Venezia e a Bologna, dove fu rettore del Collegio di Santa Lucia. In seguito alla chiusura dei collegi gesuitici bolognesi, riparò a Modena, ritornando in patria quando fu sciolta la compagnia di Gesù. L'operosità scientifica del B. è attestata da numerose pubblicazioni d'ineguale valore, trattanti argomenti molto svariati. Tra le più notevoli: "Acroasis historica et critica ad disciplinam mechanicam, geographicam", sui fondamenti e lo sviluppo storico della meccanica e della costruzione navale (1741); "Sui corpi elastici" (1747); "Della riflessione dei corpi nell'acqua e Della diminuzione di mole de' sassi ne' torrenti e ne' fiumi" (1752); "De utriusque analyseos usu in re physica" (1761-62), in cui l'analisi algebrica e quella infinitesimale sono applicate a numerosi problemi di meccanica, d'idraulica, d'astronomia e di altre scienze, opera che valse al B. l'aggregazione all'Accademia delle scienze di Parigi. A lui si deve anche principalmente la raccolta dei più celebri autori italiani sul moto dell'acqua, il corso dei fiumi e l'architettura idraulica, iniziata a Parma nel 1767 (così Treccani online). Cfr. Poggendorff,I, p. 138 - Riccardi,I, p. 104: Questa bella e ricca edizione meritava essere notata nel manuale del Sig. Brunet. Contiene oltre duecento problemi dinamici, nautici, idrostatici e numerose applicazioni del calcolo alla fisica prima di lui non tentate; onde può considerarsi come uno dei primi corsi di qualche importanza di fisica matematica. Esemplare molto ben conservato.‎
