‎* * Kaiser, Wilhelm - * 23. Februar 1895 Pery (CH), f 29. April 1983 Dornach (CH) Astronom Der modernen astrophysikalisch orientierten Astronomie stand Wilhelm Kaiser kritisch gegenüber. In der pythagoräischen Tradition stehend, entwickelte er ein auf geometrischen Proportionen, Zahlen-Harmonien sowie rhythmischen Vorgängen beruhendes organisches Bild des Kosmos. Geboren 1895 als Einzelkind im Schweizer Jura, verlor Wilhelm Kaiser mit vier Jahren seinen Vater, der Chemiker in einer Zementfabrik war. Die Mutter siedelte die Familie nach Subingen bei Solothurn um. Kaiser besuchte dort die Grundschule, anschliessend die Mittelschule im Lehrerseminar in Solothurn und schloss die Schulzeit als Grundschullehrer ab. Danach begann er das Studium der Physik, Mathematik und Astronomie an der Universität und ETH in Zürich und setzte dieses ab 1922 in Bern fort mit dem Nebenfach Biologie. 1927 reichte er seine Doktorarbeit ein mit «Über die geometrischen Sternsysteme». Darin werden die modernen Theo- rien über den Bau, die räumliche Ausdehnung und Gliederung der Fixsternwelt kritisch beleuchtet. Sein wissenschaftliches Lebenswerk besteht im wesentlichen in der weiteren Begründung, Ergänzung und Ausarbeitung der Hauptideen seiner Doktorarbeit. 1918 hörte Kaiser Vorträge von Rudolf Steiner in Zürich. Er beteiligte sich als einer der jüngsten Teilnehmer an der Statutenberatung der Weihnachtstagung am Goetheanum 1923/24. Um diese Zeit war Kaiser Mitarbeiter im Archiv am Goetheanum unter *Elisabeth Vreede. Die Auseinandersetzung mit der anthroposophischen Kosmologie beeinflusste seine Lebensarbeit massgeblich. 1925 verarbeitete Kaiser den «Dritten Naturwissenschaftlichen Kurs» von Steiner (GA 323) zu einem Buch, dessen später umstrittenen Inhalt Steiner noch im Manuskript gesehen und die Drucklegung gutgeheissen hatte. 1928 erschien als umgearbeitete Doktorarbeit der bedeutende erste Band seines Hauptwerkes, «Die geometrischen Vorstellungen in der Astronomie. Versuch einer Charakterisierung des Wahrheitsgehaltes astronomisch-mathematischer Aussagen». Energisch und eigenwillig sowie getragen von einem starken volkspädagogischen Impuls, hielt Kaiser unzählige Vorträge in Deutschland und in der Schweiz, schrieb eine Fülle einführender Schriften in die elementare Astronomie und Kalenderkunde. Kaiser nahm aktiv an Tagungen der Mathematisch-Astronomischen Sektion teil, bis es 1936 zu einer heftigen Ausein andersetzung mit *Hermann von Baravalle kam. Von 1935 bis 1966 hielt er fast jedes Jahr ein Referat während der Jahrestagungen der «Schweizeri- schen Naturforschenden Gesellschaft». Das Echo auf seine eigenwilligen und schwer durchdringbaren Ideen war gering, Kaiser brachte die meisten seiner Bücher im Selbstverlag heraus. Er verschenkte viele an Bibliotheken und Freunde. Die Jahre 1956-1981 verbrachte Kaiser umgeben von seinen unverkauften Druckwerken in einem Luftschutzkeller in äusserst bescheidenen Ver hältnissen in Solothurn, zurückgezogen und vereinsamt, aber ungebrochen; er arbeitete stetig weiter an seinem Lebenswerk. Von 1981 bis zu seinem Tod am 29.4.1983 lebte er in Dornach, gepflegt von seiner Frau Helena Jankowska bis zu deren Tod am 24.6.1 (Quelle: reinesdenken.ch)‎
