A lui si devono una ventina di studi pubblicati a partire dal 1817, con riferimento alla farmacologia ma anche alla fisiologia, alla chirurgia, alla psichiatria e all'agronomia. Raro.

In 8° (22x16 cm); 693, (3) pp. Bella legatura coeva in piena tela grigia con titolo in oro al dorso. Qualche leggera ed ininfluente brunitura alle prime ed ultime dieci pagine ma nel complesso esemplare in buone-ottime condizioni di conservazione. Non comune prima edizione italiana, la seconda edizione uscì nel 1864, di questo importante studio del grande neurologo e psichiatra tedesco originario di Stoccarda (1817 - 1868). Ebbe come insegnanti Johann Lukas Schönlein all'Università di Zurigo e François Magendie a Parigi. "Sulle malattie infettive" (Infectionskrankheiten) fu pubblicata nel 1857 in seguito al periodo egiziano. La trattazione si concentra sull'analisi e sullo studio fisio-patologico delle malattie tropicali. Subito dopo la laurea, Griesinger si recò a Parigi, ove trascorse un periodo di appassionato approfondimento delle sue conoscenze cliniche. Conobbe inoltre François Magendie, fondatore della fisiologia sperimentale e autore del primo libro moderno sull'insegnamento della fisiologia. Nel 1839 si dedicò all'attività di medico praticante nel suo studio privato a Friedrichshafen. Nel 1940 iniziò un internato come medico secondario sotto il direttore Albert Zeller presso il manicomio di Winnenthal. Quest'esperienza alimentò l'interesse di Griesinger per la psichiatria e gli fornì gran parte delle nozioni, in particolare di carattere pratico, che gli furono indispensabili per la stesura della sua prima e maggiore opera pubblicata nel 1845 "Patologia e terapia delle malattie psichiche" (Die pathologie und therapie der psychischen Krankheiten). Nel 1842 trascorse dei brevi periodi di studio a Stoccarda, Vienna e Parigi. Nel 1843 tornò a Tubinga dove ricoprì il ruolo di medico assistente in una clinica medica. Poco tempo dopo gli venne affidata la cattedra di patologia. Nel 1847 venne nominato professore straordinario. Collaborò con Wunderlich e Roser, suoi amici d'infanzia nonché colleghi a Tubinga, alla realizzazione dell'"Archiv fur physiologische heilkunde" di cui diventò redattore nello stesso anno e che utilizzò per divulgare le sue idee innovative sulla fisiologia moderna. Nel 1849, Griesinger si spostò a Kiel, dove gli venne affidata la direzione della clinica universitaria locale e dove condusse studi neuroanatomici. Nel 1950 sposò Josephine von Rom, con lei lasciò la Germania e si recò ad Il Cairo, per ragioni politiche. Qui, conquistata la fiducia del re 'Abb?s I, diventò suo medico personale. Insieme a questo compito gli venne assegnata la direzione della scuola medica de Il Cairo e la presidenza dell'Ordine dei Medici egiziano. L'esperienza egiziana concesse a Griesinger di discernere e studiare le diverse malattie tropicali. Le conoscenze acquisite durante il soggiorno in Egitto confluirono nella sua seconda opera "Klinische und anatomische Beobachtungen über die Krankheiten von Aegypten". Restò in Egitto fino al 1852, si trasferì, dunque, a Stoccarda per poi tornare a Tubinga due anni dopo. Nel 1857, utilizzò le conoscenze acquisite in Egitto per pubblicare un terzo libro intitolato "Sulle malattie infettive"(Infectionskrankheiten). Nel 1859 diventò direttore del manicomio di Gammertingen, uno dei primi del settore pediatrico in tutta la Germania. Nel 1860, lasciato nuovamente il suo paese, diventò direttore della clinica di medicina interna di Zurigo. Durante questo periodo si impegnò attivamente nella promozione e concretizzazione del progetto relativo alla costruzione di una clinica moderna, che verrà inaugurata nel 1970 dopo la sua morte e diventerà celebre come l'ospedale Burghölzli. Nel 1864 ricevette delle offerte lavorative da Berlino, accettando l'incarico di direttore di una clinica psichiatrica e di docente ordinario alla Charitè. Nel periodo a Berlino si impegnò per applicare numerose riforme, tra le quali la creazione di un Nervenstation. Nel 1867 fondò la "Berliner Medicinisch-Psychologische Gesellschaft" che cambiò in seguito nome in "Berliner Gesellschaft für Psychiatrie und Nervenkrankheiten" nel 1979, per poi diventare l'attuale "Berliner Gesellschaft für Psychiatrie und Neurologie" nel 1933. Opera in buone-ottime condizioni di conservazione.

Lettera Elettro-Fisiologica intorno alle contrazioni che produconsi nell’atto del chiudere, non che in quello di aprire il circuito prettamente nervo-muscolare della rana. Lettera chimico-medica intorno all’albumino considerata quale composto organico solforato abile ad agire sui cloruri mercuriali, ossia sul mercurio dolce o calomelano e sul mercurio sublimato corrosivo.
In 8° (18,6x11,8 cm); 20 pp. Senza brossura ma non slegato. Prima rara edizione in forma di opuscolo a se stante, un solo esemplare censito in ICCU, di questo scritto del noto scienziato, medico e politico carpigiano Grimelli Geminiano che fu senatore del Regno d’Italia e Rettore dell’Università di Modena. Lo studio qui riportato raccoglie le esperienze “galvaniche” di Grimelli. L’autore “descrisse i fenomeni elettrofisiologici osservabili negli esseri viventi sui quali sia stata fatta agire una elettricità estrinseca, i fenomeni collegati con l'elettricità intrinseca animale e quelli che straordinariamente si osservano negli organismi animali, quali la luminescenza e la fosforescenza. Con ricerche sperimentali condotte sulla rana il G. esaminò i fenomeni bioelettrici che si producono a carico del sistema nerveomuscolare volontario e involontario, dei parenchimi e degli umori, impiegando anche metodi personali: ideò infatti un originale artificio per ottenere le contrazioni di apertura nel circuito nerveomuscolare, consistente nello stabilire un contatto immediato tra le sezioni trasversali del nervo crurale e del muscolo corrispondente”. La seconda lettera contiene invece le sue esperienze anestesiologiche. Grimelli “accennò all'opportunità di far inalare agli animali da esperimento vapori di etere solforico, al fine di provocarne l'assopimento, alleviandone in tal modo le sofferenze. Su questo tema tornò anche in seguito, prospettando il possibile uso dell'etere, somministrato per via inalatoria o addirittura per iniezione intravasale…”. Esemplare in buone-ottime condizioni di conservazione e assai raro.

Collezione delle Opere del Professore Luigi Galvani, ossia Opere edite ed inedite del P. L. Galvani, raccolte e pubblicate per cura dell’Accademia delle Scienze dell’Istituto di Bologna
In 8°; 8 pp. Senza brossura ma non slegato. Prima rara edizione, in forma si opera a sé stante (l'articolo era già uscito Sul Giornale Scientifico-Letterario Modenese nel luglio del 1841) di quest’articolo del noto medico originario di Carpi, Grimelli Geminiano dedicato all’opera e alla vita (con biografia) del grande scienziato bolognese Luigi Galvani. Grimelli studente di Ruffini, laureatosi nel 1824, fu medico a Carpi dove fu anche direttore del nosocomio cittadino. Nel 1829 ottenne l'incarico di istituzioni patologiche nell'Università modenese, disciplina di cui divenne titolare, succedendo ad A. Bazzani. Partecipe dei moti del 48’ fu costretto alla fuga. Rimase ai lati della vita accademica e civile fino al 1859 quando Farini lo chiamò alla direzione del ministero della Pubblica Istruzione. Da qui in poi ebbe una prepotente ascesa politica che lo portò già nel 1859-60 a ricoprire il ruolo di rettore dell’Univeristà di Modena e presidente di varie accademie. Fu uomo di grande cultura e uno dei massimi esperti dell’opera di Luigi Galvani. Esemplare in buone-ottime condizioni di conservazione.
