Exhibition catalogue; presents most of the works included in the exhibition divided into four categories: abstract landscapes small sculptures iron ships and drawings. // Antonis Vezirtzis was born on the island of Zakynthos in 1950. He lived there up to 1969 when he came to Athens. He took drawing classes did his military service and in 1973 matriculated at the Athens School of Fine Arts where he studied in the studio of Yiannis Pappas up to 1979. Already in those years at ASFA he created his first abstract landscapes of plaster and wood a theme that engaged his interest throughout his short creative life. Towards the end of his life he built large iron ships which are constructed from well-matched objets trouves providing in this manner a new dimension in the re-use of materials. Beyond these two basic categories of work by Vezirtzis the exhibition also includes paintings and drawings as well as a few small sculptures made of plaster and brass. He died in 1981. Ioannis D. Lambros 1915-1988 - Genteel Observations of a Restless Camera

This book was published on the occasion of the exhibition of the same name which took place at the Benaki Museum in October 2007. It includes a foreword by Fanny Konstantinou and texts by: Fanny Vafiadaki Aliki Tsirgialou and Kostas Androulidakis. The main body of the book is richly illustrated with 115 photographs selected from 32000 photographic documents which were kindly ceded to the Photographic Archive of the Benaki Museum in 2002 by his daughters Fanny Vafiadaki and Sonia Lambrou. The photographic lens of Ioannis Lambrou recorded the beauty of the Greek landscape transporting the viewer with civility and nostalgia to a Greece that no longer exists. Photographic accounts of people focused almost exclusively on his immediate family and close friends. The shots taken as part of his duties in his postings as an employee of the Hellenic Railways Organisation illustrate the evolution of the railroads in Greece. With the passage of time these photographs became documents recording the -unfamiliar to many - railroad life of Greece. // Ioannis D. Lambros 1915-1988. Notas nobles de un objetivo inquieto. Descripcion: La publicacion fue realizada con ocasion de la exposicion del mismo titulo presentada en el Museo Benaki en octubre de 2007. Incluye un prologo de Fani Constantinou y textos de: Fani Vafiadaki Aliki Tsirgialou y Kostas Androulidakis. Las 115 fotografias que adornan el cuerpo principal del album fueron seleccionadas de entre los 32.000 testimonios fotograficos gentilmente cedidos al Archivo Fotografico del Museo Benaki en 2002 por sus hijas Fani Vafiadaki y Sonia Lambrou. El objetivo de Ioannis Lambros registro la belleza del paisaje griego trasladando con delicadeza y nostalgia al espectador a una Grecia que no existe ya. Las notas fotograficas de personas se centran casi exclusivamente en el circulo de familiares y amigos mas inmediato. Las tomas realizadas en el marco de sus funciones como empleado de OSE Organismo Ferroviario de Grecia ilustran el desarrollo de la red ferroviaria de Grecia.
