Also, architectural and floor plan drawings, beautiful views (between 1876-1933) of Switzerland, including Bremgarten, Dübendorf, Effretikon, Lugano, Freiburg, New Bechburg, Thierstein, Bern-Thun, Mariastein, Aarberg, Castle Burgdorf, Kyburg, Locarno, Arbon, Brugg, Zurich, Erlach, as well as Italy, France and Germany. Documents include announcement and invitations and manuscripts of the Société "On the Wall" in Zürich, manuscript letters, poems, purchase contracts and dividing documents between David and Paul Rordorf, etc., as well as a district plan of the city of Zurich. David, A., French actor (fl. 1st half of the 19th century).
2 autograph letters signed. N. p. o. d.
8vo. Together 1¾ pp. on bifolia. With autograph addresses. A letter to a M. Laurent suggests that David played at the Comédie-Française for some time, as it is written on stationery of the theatre. In the letter, he asks Laurent to visit him the following day. - The second letter is addressed to the important director Anténor Joly (1799-1852) at the Théâtre Ventadour. David reminds Joly of his promise to "occupy himself with my return to the theatre" and remarks bitterly that "with a bit of kindness and goodwill and, above all, the oblivion of an old grudge" Joly could already have placed him in several performances: "Je crois qu'il est nécessaire que je rappelle a Monsieur Anténor que je suis encore de ce monde et qu'il m'a fait une promesse, celle de s'occuper de ma rentrée au théâtre. - Traces of folds and seal. The letter to Joly with embossed monogram, several tears and stronger browning to the address leaf.

David, Samuel, French composer (1836-1895).
Autograph letter signed. Paris, 9 Jan. 1892 [?]
8vo. 1¾ pp. To a young singer with advice for her singing: "Voici les quelques conseils que dicte ma vielle expérience à Votre jeune talent: Chantes tous les jours pendant longtemps. - Two tears to the upper corners affecting the last digit of the date.

Addressed to Albert Johannsen 1871-1962 a University of Chicago geology professor who authored "The House of Beadle and Adams and Its Dime and Nickel Novels" 1950 the definitive reference work on the subject. Fine. In response to a request for a working manuscript page Davis notes: "The short story whose first page it is was scheduled the last I heard for publication in Hearst's International in the February number which will be out about the twentieth of this month." Boldly signed. Second a TMS 1p 8½" X 11" San Antonio Texas 1923 January. Near fine. Titled "Daniel Five Times" this neat double spaced typescript opens with "Colonel Rebel Lee Singleton whose name places his birth as not later than Reconstruction Days came out through the main doorway of the Federal Building to face across the palm-ornamented expanse of Alamo Plaza and paused on the upper step as he observed a haphazard meeting of friends on the sidewalk below him and not ten yards away." Several small minor pencilled corrections. Across the top he has inscribed and signed boldly in black fountain pen: "For Mr. Albert Johannsen with the good wishes of J. Frank Davis" along with place and date. An attractive and unusual pair. Accompanied by Johannsen's original 8½" X 11" file folder bearing a printed "Collection of Albert Johannsen" label partly filled in by Johannsen. unknown

Davis, Miles, Jazzmusiker (1926-1991).
Eigenh. Signatur ("Miles") auf Rückseite des Covers von: Miles Davis. Quiet Nights. Arranged and conducted by Gil Evans. Mit 8 weiteren U. Dortmund, Köln, Den Haag u. a., 1976 bis 1981.
LP, CBS, italienische Pressung, o. J. (1963). CL 2106 and CS 8906).
