Bis zu seiner Entlassung 1938 lehrte er auch als Professor an der Akademie für Musik und darstellende Kunst sowie am Max-Reinhardt-Seminar Rundfunksprechen und Radioregie. Während des Krieges als Mitarbeiter der Filmgesellschaft TOBIS in Berlin tätig und unter Pseudonym Drehbücher verfassend, wurde er 1945 stellvertretender Abteilungsdirektor beim Berliner Rundfunk und übernahm 1946 wieder seine Stelle als Direktor der literarischen Abteilung bei der RAVAG. Wohlgebohren treffliches 'Unterhaltungsblatt' gewinnt einen solchen Charakter, daß sich's sein Schriftsteller zur Ehre rechnen muß, mit demselben in Verbindung zu stehen. [I]ch trage der einliegenden poetischen Kleinigkeit die Vermittlung auf. Sagt sie Ihnen zu, so bitte ich um Zusendung eines Abzuges, in welchem Falle weitere Beiträge folgen sollen; verneinenden Falles geben Sie mir m. Arbeit zu anderweiter Verwendung zurück [...]". - Nürnberger war zu jener Zeit als Postdirector in Sorau mit genügend Freizeit ausgestattet, um mehrere Übersetzungen der griechischen Klassiker zu bewältigen. 1829 als Postmeister nach Landsberg a. d. Warthe versetzt, sah er "seine amtlichen Functionen durch besondere Gunst des Generalpostmeisters v. Nagler bedeutend ermäßigt" und schuf so "eine Reihe astronomischer und naturwissenschaftlicher Werke [...], die alle den Geist ernster Philosophie und tiefer Betrachtung tragen, vor allem aber jenes großartige Werk, das bestimmt war, eine längst gefühlte Lücke in der Litteratur auszufüllen, sein 'Populäres astronomisches Handwörterbuch' (II, 1841-1848), das er bis zum Buchstaben W fortführte, und das von S. Nathan und Woldemar Nürnberger vollendet ward" (ADB XXIV, 56f.). - Das Adressblatt mit einigen Ausrissen durch Siegelbruch (dieses erhalten); die "einliegende poetische Kleinigkeit" ist ein 84:107 mm großer Zeitungsausschnitt mit einer biogr. Notiz zu Nürnberger.

M. zu Ihrer Verfügung zu stellen [...]". - Die 1812 gegründete Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde in Wien hatte ihren ersten dauerhaften Standort in den Tuchlauben, der 1831 mit einem Festkonzert eröffnet wurde. Besonders besucherstarke Konzerte fanden bis zur Eröffnung des Wiener Musikvereins 1870 im Großen Redoutensaal der Hofburg statt. - Minimal braunfleckig.

II. 1853). - Rudolf Rt. von Vivenot gründete 1848 den "Konstitutionell-monarchistischen Verein"; als sich die angestrebte Gründung einer patriotischen Partei nicht verwirklichen ließ, zog er sich jedoch aus der aktiven Politik zurück. Seit 1868 Mitglied der Deutschen Akademie der Naturforscher Leopoldina, wurde er 1872 Vorsitzender des Komitees zur Gründung des Sophienspitals in Wien; daneben war Vivenot Direktor des Unterstützungsvereins für Witwen und Waisen des medizinischen Doktor-Collegiums. - Beiliegend ein weiteres von O'Donnell adressiertes Kuvert mit unlesbarem Adressaten ("Hrn. This Canadian-American composer songwriter pianist singer and music educator was a popular vaudeville and Tin Pan Alley figure; Caruso put him "on the map" in 1913 when he recorded O'Hara's song "Your Eyes Have Told Me What I Did Now Know" and in 1914 he enjoyed his biggest hit "Tennessee I Hear You Calling Me"; during World War One his hit "K-K-K-Katy" sold more than one million sheet music copies; he was also an early ethnomusicologist recording and collecting Native American music on wax cylinders -- some of which he later sang himself in early Victor and Edison recordings; in 1945 he was elected president of the Composers-Authors Guild; all told he composed more than 500 popular and patriotic songs. Printed DS 9" X 12" 6pp n.p. 1943 January 25. Very good. Mildest bit of age toning. Sheet music for "I Was the Tree: Sacred Song" with music by O'Hara and lyrics by Daniel S. Twohig published by R.L. Huntinger New York NY in 1937. Across the top of the front cover he inscribes and signs it large and bold in blue fountain pen: "For a great basso William Wahlert / Compliments & best wishes / of the composer. / Geoffrey O'Hare / Jany 25: / 1943." The 6th and last leaf consists of O'Hara and Twohig's song "Soft Were Your Hands Dear Jesus." Interesting unusual piece. unknown

This Irish soldier of fortune fought under General Gomez in Cuba in 1897 in the Spanish-American War as one of Roosevelt's "Rough Riders" in a Canadian cavalry regiment in the South African War in the Balkans in 1903 with the Princess Pat regiment in 1914 with the United States Army in 1917 and elsewhere; he called himself an "apostle of discontent" complaining it was hard to feed himself between wars; he tried his hand at acting in later years and even became a race horse trainer; at his death he owned a filling station in Taos New Mexico. Boldly pencilled "Yours for 'peace' / Patrick Irving O'Hay / Capt Inf. U.S.A ret" heavy stock 5" X 3" card n.p. n.y. Very good. He Directed Films 1932-1954 Including The Most Dangerous Game She Earthbound Hudson's Bay The Moon Is Down They Won't Believe Me The Miracle Of The Bells Destination Moon And Santa Fe. In 1947 Hje Was One Of The Hollywood 19 Subpoened By The House Un-America Activities Committee; He Was Not Called To Testify But Was Blacklisted Requiring Him To Work Outside The Us. Victor Jory 1902-1982 Was Canadian Attended School In Pasadena Appeared In Theatre All Over The Us And Made His Motion Picture Debut In 1930 Later Appearing In Over 150 Pictures And Dozens Of Tv Episodes. Note That This Book Is Not Signed By O'neill. Wyeth under Brandywine School founder Howard Pyle; well remembered for depictions of industrial America he often illustrated travel books by his wife Amy Ewing and often also appeared in the pages of "Harper's Monthly" "Collier's" "Scribner's" and "Century" magazines. ALS 1p 7�" X 10�" Villa Nova PA 1924 April. Addressed to Mr. Lay. Fine. On handsome imprinted letterhead in his enormous and attractive calligraphic script Oakley arranges details for an exhibition to which he is contributing: "I have told Budworth to send my large water color to your May-June exhibition. you do not tell me what day it should be delivered -- but of course Budworth will know."
