Handsome black and white picture postcard captioned "Ulm Cathedral / Miniature Model / Hall of Religion - A Century of Progress - Chicago." Card was neither stamped nor canceled; address portion is blank. A description at the top of the message portion tells Mrosek's tale. After giving some details on the famous cathedral in Wuertenberg Germany it gives the vital stats of Mrosek's creation: It "is hand carved from maple and holly wood. It contains 4300 pieces fitted together. It is 9 feet high 8 feet long 40 inches wide equipped with lights art glass windows and chimes. Seven years of painstaking labor were devoted." Below this Mrosek signs and dates it. A superb example of the miniature maker's art and an unusual Century of Progress artifact. unknown

On letterhead of "Le Commissaire General auz Affaires de Guerre Franco-Americaines" Commissioner General for Franco-American War Cooperation Tardie dates it as upper right "November 17th" adding "on board Lorrain" beneath and then signing large and bold at center near the top. Below him in two rows ten other diplomatic officials also sign. Among them are Louis Aubert Tardieu's secretary in Washington. Others include D. Rimond E.J. Requin R. Pillet Rene Lebonce and five others. Below these at lower left is a fine impression of a french official seal boldly impressed in dark brown wax. Accompanied by a Typed Letter Signed from an assistant secretary "D.R. Caruth" at the Department of State 2pp 8" X 10�" Washington DC 1928 April 21. Recipient's name/address snipped out. on "Department of State" letterhead this official discusses Tardieu. In part: ".Mr. Andre Tardieu French High Commissioner to the United States arrived in Washington on May 17 1917 accompanied by the following French officials. After the French High Commission was fulle organized there were upwards of eight hundred persons connected with it the personnel changing from time to time. It is noted that Mr. Louis Aubert Mr. R. Pillet and Mr. E.J. Requin were connected with the Commission and while the names of Mr. Lebonce and Mr. Rimond do not appear on the Department's records the absence does not mean that they were at no time connected with that organization." Interesting background information apparently part of an early attempt to research this Tardieu document. In any case an intriguing shipboard-signed piece from the future prime minister and a diplomatic delegation. Most unusual. unknown
