Pp. 16 1-255 256 blank 16. 1 vols. Small 8vo 140 x 88 mm. A superior copy of this Walton first published in 1653. The first four editions - there were five in his lifetime - remained anonymous. This third is a virtual reprint of the second edition with an interesting alteration however to the final remark of Piscator on p. 255: "And St. Peter's blessing upon all that are lovers of Vertue and all that love to be quiet and go a fishing. 'Study to be quiet I Thess. 4.11'". It is also in the introduction to this edition that Walton first used what became his signature phrase "I have laid aside business and gone a-fishing." Along with several small textual changes the John 21.3 quotation has been removed from the title-page and the "C" of "Complete" in the running headlines are now all similar. "The Lawes of Angling" here are added for the first time printed in gothic type. The third edition was reissued in 1664 the only difference being in the substituton of a new title-page. The portraits include Stubbs' 'Godolphin Arabian' and a vast stable of paintings by Herring Senior racing scenes and other works. "The twenty-one copy edition of Cherished Portraits of Thoroughbred Horses is one of the rarest works of its kind in America. . It was Connett's most amibitious project and if produced today would easily cost several thousand dollars per copy" Siegel p. 174. ‎written at sea out of Bellport Long Island 1941. 1 vols. Oblong 8vo 9-1/2 x 14 inches. Original green leatherette the entries being made in "The Yachtsman's Log Book" by Charles F. Chapman New York: E.J. Willis Co. 1936 covers a little worn else fine. Enclosed in a custom made cloth folding box with green morocco spine. 1 vols. Oblong 8vo 9-1/2 x 14 inches. Connett's records in pencil of some 40 trips made along the eastern seaboard in his single-masted sloop indicating dates locations/destinations weather sailing conditions and events and numerous remarks concerning happenings on board and on shore. Included are a small snapshot of the boat Connett's membership card in the Bellport Bay Yacht Club indicating that in 1942 he was the Commodore his Coast Guard ID Card and his card signifying his membership in the Coast Guard Reserve.
