United States Reports. Vol. 535 Oct. Term 2001. June 2003. Off. Ed.
2003. United States Reports Official Edition. Volume 535. Cases Adjudged in The Supreme Court at October Term 2001. Beginning of Term October 1 2001 March 4 Through June 3 2002. Released February 2004 by the Government Printing Office. Frank D. Wagner Reporter of Decisions. Washington: U.S. Government Printing Office 2003. cviii 1317 pp. Hardcover. Publisher's tan cloth with red and black gilt stamped spine labels. New. $125. Some major decisions reported in this volume are: TrafFix Devices Inc. v. Marketing Displays Inc. 532 U.S. 23 2001 was a landmark United States Supreme Court decision in the field of trademark law. The case determined that a functional design could not be eligible for trademark protection and it established a presumption that a patented design is inherently functional. Egelhoff v. Egelhoff 532 U.S. 141 2001 is a major decision of the Supreme Court of the United States on federalism specifically with regards to the preemption powers of federal law over state laws. It sets the precedent that any state statutes having a "connection with" ERISA plans are superseded by ERISA or any future substantially similar law that takes its place. In essence this decision is a reaffirmation of the right and ability of the federal government to at least in some instances pre-empt state laws. unknown

Uttley, Alison
The Squirrel The Hare and the Little Grey Rabbit *FIRST PRINTING OF ALISON UTTLEY'S FIRST BOOK*
First printing of Alison Uttley's first book - the first title in the Little Grey Rabbit Series. Hinges intact. Somewhat above-average wear externally. We presume backstrip is missing as prior owner has neatly covered spine with tape which closely matches boards in colour. Few minor pencil marks mostly erased from endpapers. Several minor perforations to front free endpaper, first blank leaf, and half-title page, as if by a kitten's tiny claws. Corresponding indentations to title page and following page. One inch chip from lower corner of page 19. Half-inch tear to top edge of page 56. Two small chips from lower corner of page 107. Two-inch tear to lower fore-edge of back free endpaper. Book

Uttley, Alison
The Story of Fuzzypeg the Hedgehog
Very rare first printing copy of this, one of the earliest titles from Alison Uttley's much loved Little Grey Rabbit Series. Only the bottom inch of backstrip remains. Single piece of beige tape connects boards at top of spine. Average wear and soiling externally otherwise. Front endpaper and several pages bear child's markings in red pencil. We have attempted to erase several of these markings with decent success. We are happy to provide digital images upon request. Contemporary gift greetings atop first blank leaf. Erased lead pencil scribbling to page 98 is lightly visible. Overall, a worthy copy. Book

V S Pritchett - RARE SIGNED FIRST PRINTING
A Cab at the Door - WORLD FIRST EDITION
Chatto & Windus London 1968 SIGNED AND RARE THUS. Rightly regarded as a classic this first part of a great writer's life has enormous freshness and an everlasting relevance to all aspiring writers. Lovely illustrated wraparound jacket by Mosley although it is a bit damaged; a half inch tear at the top left of the front panel some tiny chippings at the top of the spine; but considering this is a laminated 1968 jacket it really is not too bad and it is protected now. The price is not clipped and nothing 'live' is affected. The book itself has a slight lean and the spine of the binding is creased slightly at the top. All corners are firm and unbumped. There are no inscriptions no ownership names and no damage to the text block. Very Good sounds worse than it turns out to be because the impression of this book in the hand is clean and tight. The three photographs at the end of the book are true first printings with no wear to the plates which is one of the reasons a first printing is sought after. Signature on the title page. Utterly collectable. 0.0 0.0 0.0. Illus. by Charles Mosley cover. Signed by Author. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. Chatto & Windus London hardcover
