in-4, ff.(14), pp. 632, in ottimo carattere corsivo italico, numerose grandi iniziali istoriate e fregi silografati, impresa di Giolito sul titolo. Legatura coeva piena pergamena, titolo ms. al dorso. Seconda tiratura della prima traduzione italiana degli Apoftemmi di Plutarco (la prima tiratura 1565 e la terza 1567, del medesimo Giolito, sono assolutamente identiche alla presente). Negli Apoftemmi il grande ellenista scrive, vive e opera cinto da ricordi di persone e di luoghi che si affollano attorno al suo spirito sensibilissimo. The ?Silvae? occupy a specific place within Politian's Latin poetry and in all humanistic poetry as a whole. Poliziano?s literary Praelectiones in prose allow to investigate the progressive refinement of the philological method used by the humanist to study classical texts: the Oratio super Fabio Quintiliano et Statii ?Sylvis? at the beginning highlights the taste for less known authors. This taste is confirmed by the following Praelectio in Persium and Praefatio in Suetonii expositionem, but even by the Oratio in expositione Homeri that seals Poliziano?s commitment to the litterae graecae.
