The boards show mild shelfwear with mild wear to the edges and extremities. These are within expectations for a book of this age. The gilt label on the front board also shows mild shelfwear although still bright and legible. The label on the spine shows heavy wear effecting legibility. The front hinge is cracked and a bit loose. There is a gift inscription in german on the inner board dated 1929 attractive penmanship from the period. A previous stamp from the period is on the free end page "4T 1.84" in blue at a slight angle assumed to be a price stamp. There is a previous fold to the rear free end page. This was changed to olive green and the mention of Hemingway winning the nobel prize was added later. Winner of the Pulitzer Prize and the book that finally won the Nobel Prize for Hemingway.
