The short novel about an epic struggle between an old Cuban fisherman and a giant marlin that re-ignited Hemingway's waning writing career and was in large part responsible for his 1954 Nobel Prize. First edition first bookclub edition with 1952 date on both title and copyright pages letter W on copyright page embossed dot in lower corner of back cover. About 5 1/2 x 8 1/4 inches 140 pages in light-blue cloth-covered boards with silver lettering on spine. Sorry no dustjacket. Finish on boards is somewhat worn with small stain and two or three tiny stains on back cover. However no scratching or chipping or bumped corners. Spine ends very slightly bumped lettering a bit faded but still legible. Text is complete clean and unmarked no evidence of previous owners. No creasing or tears. A very decent copy with no major flaws. This novel is the last Hemingway novel originally published in the September 1 1952 issue of Life Magazine with the first hardcover and bookclub editions following shortly thereafter. Hard Cover.
