In the Battle of Baltimore one of the turning points in the War of 1812 American forces warded off a British sea invasion of the busy port city of Baltimore Maryland. The American defense of Baltimore's Fort McHenry in this battle inspired Francis Scott Key to compose the poem which would become the national anthem of the United States: "The Star-Spangled Banner." The Battle of North Point was fought on September 12 1814 between General John Stricker's Maryland Militia and a British force led by Major General Robert Ross. Although tactically a British victory the battle delayed the British advance against Baltimore buying valuable time for the defense of the city. The engagement was a part of the larger Battle of Baltimore a strategic American victory in the War of 1812. Weekly Messenger unknown

War of 1812 Battle of the Thames Tecumseh killed Nov 5 1813 Boston Weekly Messenger newspaper
Boston: Weekly Messenger 1813. 1st Edition. No binding. Good. COMPLETE ORIGINAL War of 1812 NEWSPAPER the Boston Weekly Messenger MA dated Nov 5 1813. Prominent front page headline: "Official particulars of GENERAL William Henry HARRISON'S VICTORY" and four columns of front page detailed reports of the War of 1812 BATTLE of the THAMES Battle of Moraviantown. Proably the best period newspaper on the Battle of the Thames. The famed Indian Chief TECUMSEH was killed in this battle. This report does not specifically mention the death of TECUMSEH; however this famous Indian Chief was killed in this battle. There is also a back page 1/2 column British official report and perspective on the Battle of the Thames dated Montreal Oct.18 1813. Plus a 1-1/2 column letter by Com. Chauncy "Chauncey's Running Fight" dated 1st Oct. 1813 detailing the Lake Ontario runing batlle with Sir James Lucas Yeo and the British ships near York Toronto and Burlington Bay. Some water staining and age toning. Good overall condition. Battle of the Thames also called Battle of Moraviantown Oct. 5 1813 in the War of 1812 decisive U.S. victory over British and Indian forces in Ontario Canada enabling the United States to consolidate its control over the Northwest. After the U.S. naval triumph in the Battle of Lake Erie in September 1813 the British commander at Detroit Brigadier General Henry A. Procter found his position untenable and began a hasty retreat across the Ontario peninsula. He was pursued by about 3500 U.S. troops under Major General William Henry Harrison who was supported by the U.S. fleet in command of Lake Erie. The forces met near Moraviantown on the Thames River a few miles east of what is now Thamesville. The British with about 600 regulars and 1000 Indian allies under Tecumseh the Shawnee intertribal leader were greatly outnumbered and quickly defeated. Many British troops were captured and Tecumseh was killed destroying his Indian alliance and breaking the Indian power in the Ohio and Indiana territories. After this battle most of the tribes abandoned their association with the British. After destroying Moraviantown a village of Christian Indians the U.S. troops returned to Detroit. The U.S. victory helped catapult Harrison into the national limelight and eventually the presidency. Quoted from Encyclopædia Britannica online article. Weekly Messenger unknown

War of 1812 Battle Lacolle Mills Quebec April 29 1814 Boston Weekly Messenger newspaper
Boston: Weekly Messenger 1814. 1st Edition. No binding. Very Good. Original 4pp. newspaper the Boston Weekly Messenger MA dated April 29 1814. Inside page headline and full column detailed eyewitness account of the BATTLE of LACOLLE MILLS Quebec during the War of 1812 written by Major General James Wilkinson and dated March 31 1814. Referred to as the Battle of Oldetown. Very good condition. The Second Battle of Lacolle Mills in Quebec was fought on 30 March 1814 during the War of 1812. The small garrison of a British outpost position aided by reinforcements fought off a strong but badly-executed American attack. Major General James Wilkinson marched northwards from Plattsburgh to attack this outpost on 27 March 1814. His force consisted of 4000 men organised into three brigades with 11 pieces of artillery. The march was delayed by deep snow and mud and he was not able to occupy Odelltown until 30 March and begin the attack on Lacolle Mills until the early afternoon. By evening the Americans had made little impression on the British defences. Rather than launch an all-out assault Wilkinson ordered a retreat. Results of the ConflictAmerican troops withdrew the following day. Their casualties were 13 killed 128 wounded and 13 missing. The British and Canadians had suffered 11 killed 44 wounded and 4 missing. Although the battle was technically a draw the British held their positions and General Wilkinson and his army returned to the United States. Major Handcock had successfully blocked the American invasion of Canada with approximately 400 men against an attacking force of 4000. General Wilkinson was relieved of duty on April 11. He was later court-martialed but acquitted because he had been acting under the orders of the Secretary of War John Armstrong. Weekly Messenger unknown
