A VERY RARE and MOST pleasing copy of this history of Roman Law from the busy jurist Christian Hoffmann. Especially taking the book's age into account this book is wonderful to hold read and to turn the pages. The boards have wear scuffing and marks. They are benevolent venerable. They are steady and sound. There is some wear to the spine seams but the book's security and facility are unaffected. The contents are in excellent condition. There are of course age related marks areas of tanning and foxing. In general and by far the contents are healthy tidy well maintained and preserved. The chapter "Fragmenta Edicti Perpetui in Corpore Juris Romano-Justinianei Dispersa ad mentem vir. clariss. G Vil. Ranchini Jac. Gothofredi Gerardi Noodtii aliorumque Collecta Atque Emendata" have antique ink annotations that add considerably to the character of the book.
