Of the two hundred and forty-three copies of this edition printed from type this is number unnumbered with an original sketch signed by the artist-author. Half cream colored paper backstrip and corners with blue paper covered boards gilt lettering on black paper title label on spine 4to xxvi p. 21 15-475 4 p. Includes color frontis portrait of General Pershing. Artwork consists of 133 full page plates of author's portraits of members of the AEF some in color verso blank with brief biographies of the subjects. Included are portraits of Douglas MacArthur as Brigadier General commanding the 42nd Division and Sergeant Alvin C. York of the 82nd Division. The full page original artwork added to this edition is that of two young soldiers sitting with one singing "and spend the rest of my life in bed!" The artwork is in pencil signed by Chase in the lower right corner. Owner's name ffep only mark in book. Binding tight but for the added section at the front which is showing minor looseness. Covers show edge wear and light soiling spine sunned and paper title label has minor chipping not affecting text. Book condition VG-. Scarce limited edition of 243 copies. George H.
