In antiquity cities like Tralles and Aphrodisias made their mark with products such as pottery, sculpture and leather. Miletus harbour boosted the city's commerce and economy. Together with the photographers Ali Konyali and Tarkan Kutlu we travelled the length and breadth of Aydin for Cultural Heritage of Aydin, and esteemed experts in the field, academics and researchers, have contributed with their articles. Bound in the original publisher's printed wrappers, these with minute nick or tow at extremities. In fine condition. Excellent copy, exceptionally well preserved, apparently hardly ever used. ~ First edition. Ausgrabungen der Deutschen Orient-Gessellschaft in Assur: A. Die Baudenkmäler aus Assyrischer Zeit. VI. All the photographic of the plates are printed in collotype, one of the most accurate and attractive methods of photomechanical tonal printing processes. Highly skilled and expensive process, it cannot produce more than a limited number of impressions. It has been used for single-sheet prints and luxury portfolios, and since the 1950s has been abandoned by all except a few small specialist firms.
