Overall good condition. Gilt engravings on each front cover engravings to back covers. Spines are also engraved and gilded. Marbled end pages. Pages are rough cut. Some wear to edges spines are sun faded with some small tears. Pages are clean and unmarked. Bindings are loose but intact save volume one which has a broken binding. He was an entertaining and colourful character. He enjoyed the friendship and respect of his literary contemporaries and counted the Duchess of Marlborough and the actress Mrs. Bracegirdle among his mistresses. He is buried in Westminster Abbey.
