An die Redaktion des Wiener Salonblattes: "In Beantwortung Ihrer freundlichen Anfrage teile ich Ihnen mit, dass ich mich nach Schluss der Opernsaison zunächst auf vier Wochen nach Karlsbad begebe und dann für den Rest der Ferien nach Ostende reise, woselbst ich für die großen internationalen Konzerte im Curhause verpflichtet bin […]". - Forst gab 1900 am Opernhaus in Köln ihr Bühnendebüt als Lucia di Lammermoor. 1902 wurde sie an die Wiener Hofoper berufen, wo sie ihre größten Erfolge feierte. Daneben wirkte die Sopranistin als Konzertsängerin und trat auf Tourneen und den Niederrheinischen Musikfesten in Erscheinung. Später war sie in Wien als Gesanglehrerin tätig. Forst wurde 1942 mit einem Transport jüdischer Einwohner von Wien nach Minsk deportiert und dort ermordet.

Mit alt montiertem Portrait (Zeitungsausschnitt). - Als Schauspieler zu den namhaftesten Vertretern des österreichischen Films der Zwischenkriegszeit zählend, gelang Forst 1933 als Regisseur mit "Leise flehen meine Lieder" mit Hans Jaray in der Rolle des Franz Schubert ein eindrucksvolles Debüt als Regisseur; im Jahr darauf wurde "Maskerade" - mit Paula Wessely in der Hauptrolle - ein Welterfolg, 1936 gründete er eine eigene Produktionsfirma. Nach dem Ende der nationalsozialistischen Herrschaft - während der Forst vornehmlich "patriotische" Filme zu schaffen gehalten war - gelang ihm zwar mit Hildegard Knef als "Sünderin" - "dem" Skandalfilm der frühen 50er Jahre - ein Comeback, er vermochte sich als seriöser Regisseur jedoch nicht zu behaupten und beschränkte sich fortan auf leichtfüßige Unterhaltung (darunter etwa ‘Im weißen Rössl’ mit Johanna Matz und Johannes Heesters und ‘Kaiserjäger’ mit Adrian Hoven und Judith Holzmeister).

An den in Forsters Ferienhaus in Bad Aussee weilenden Schauspieler Richard Eybner (1896-1968), dem er u. a. von "einigen Ufa-Pallaver's [!]" berichtet, derentwegen er gerade hier sei. - Seit 1903 auf der Bühne stehend, begann Forster 1919 in Stummfilmen mitzuwirken; sein erster Tonfilm folgte 1930 mit der "Dreigroschenoper" unter der Regie von G. W. Pabst. Einem kurzzeitigen Engagement am Broadway folgten weitere Filme und wenige Theaterauftritte. Nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg war Forster vorwiegend im Theater in der Josefstadt zu sehen und wie schon zuvor im Film, wo er u. a. in einigen Edgar Wallace-Verfilmungen zu sehen war. - In altem Sammlungsumschlag.

Der Schriftsteller Hippolyte Fortoul (1811-56) wurde 1840 Professor für französische Literatur in Toulouse und machte sich um die Edition der Schriften des Abbé Sieyès verdient. Ab 1851 diente er als Unterrichtsminister. - Ecken und Kanten etwas bestoßen. Am Vortitel zeitgenöss. hs. Besitzvermerk "Annie A.
