Erstausgabe Dresden/Leipzig Verlag von Heinrich Minden 1895 8° 151 S. original Kartonage Paperback der Einband etwas angestaubt innen kaum altersspurig im ganzen ein gutes sauberes Exemplar im raren Originaleinband Ffm-K1 1879 wurde Claar als Intendant an die Vereinigten Stadttheater in Frankfurt am Main berufen. Unter seinem Vorgänger Otto Devrient hatte das Frankfurter Theater eine künstlerische Stagnation erlebt zugleich war jedoch auf Initiative Frankfurter Bürger der Bau des neuen Opernhauses begonnen worden. Am 20. Oktober 1880 konnte Claar die Eröffnung des neuen Opernhauses feiern. In Anwesenheit von Kaiser Wilhelm I. und Kronprinz Friedrich wurde es mit einer festlichen Aufführung von Mozarts Don Giovanni eingeweiht. Im selben Jahr wurde er in die Frankfurter Freimaurerloge Zur aufgehenden Morgenröthe aufgenommen. Claar starb am 25. Juli 1930 im Alter von 87 Jahren in Frankfurt und wurde auf dem Frankfurter Hauptfriedhof begraben. Das Grab ist als Ehrengrab ausgewiesen und steht unter Denkmalschutz. Nach ihm ist die Emil-Claar-Straße im Frankfurter Westend benannt. Ich bleibe hübsch bei meinem Manne und nähre mich redlich! Wenn Sie also die Güte haben wollen, Ihre Vorschläge dem Herrn Keppler zu machen!" - Ausgebildet von Josef Lewinsky, trat die Schauspielerin in Hamburg, Berlin, Pest, Schwerin, Wien und in Leipzig auf, dessen Stadttheater sie bis 1871 als herausragende Tragödin angehörte. Mit der Rolle der Theodora wurde sie an den bayerischen Königshof zu einer Separatvorstellung berufen. 1872 folgte sie ihrem Mann Emil Claar nach Prag, 1876 ans Residenztheater Berlin und 1879 nach Frankfurt am Main. Gastspiele führten sie anschließend an verschiedene deutsche Theater, durch Rußland und Amerika. Seit 1891 spielte sie nur noch vereinzelt in Wohltätigkeitsvorstellungen.

Returned from a trip to Belgium, Clair thanks Storck for the friendly reception at the Club du Cinéma and sends some photographs. In one of the postscripts, he asks Storck to help him obtain a drawing from James Ensor: "Cher Monsieur, De retour à Paris, je tiens à vous dire encore une fois ma gratitude pour l'accueil qui m'a été fait par le Club du Cinéma. Veuillez, je vous prie, remercier en mon nom, tous vos amis. Il m'est agréable de vous dire, personnellement, combien j'ai été sensible à vos attentions et au plaisir de vous connaître. C'est un grand réconfort pour moi de savoir que, loin de Paris, mon effort est suivi avec sympathie par des esprits que j'estime. Vous trouverez ci joint les quelques photographies demandées.
