Ihre gütige Zusicherung, daß man mich in Ihrer Königsstadt mit einiger Theilnahme erwartet, ist mir dann besonders erfreulich, wenn sich keine zu hohe Erwartung dabey einschleicht, wodurch man oft, ohngemachtet aller Mühe unter derselben bleibt […] Ich zweifle nicht, daß ich bis zum 25 April bey Ihnen eintreffe, um mich des Glücks zu erfreuen auch vor den allerhöchsten Personen erscheinen zu können. Deshalb werden nachstehende Herrn und Damen ersucht, heute Abends halb sechs Uhr auf dem Theater zu erscheinen, um in dem vierten Aufzug erwähnten Stückes - die sechste, siebente, achte und neunte Scene zu probiren”. An den Journalisten und späteren Wiener Kulturstadtrat Hans Arnold Schwer (1856-1931): Bedauert, daß es ihm "im September bei meinem Abschiedsbesuche in der Redaktion des ‘Deutschen Volksblatts' nicht vergönnt gewesen [wäre], Sie zu sprechen" (Br. v. 31. III. 1899) und teilt mit, "daß ich hier außerordentliche Erfolge bei Presse und Publicum erzielt habe; sogar die englischen Zeitungen bringen mein Bild und meine Biographie u. sind des Lobes voll, obwohl doch die amerikanischen Bühnen hier u. deren Künstler unstreitig auf der höchsten Stufe künstlerischer Vollkommenheit stehen, wie wir es zu Hause in solcher Fülle und Allgemeinheit nicht kennen [...]" (Br. v. 17.
