[…]". - Robert Emerich debütierte 1865 am Zürcher Aktientheater, kam 1866 an das Stuttgarter Hoftheater und 1868 an das Kgl. Schauspielhaus Berlin, dessen Mitglied er wurde. 1872 folgte er der Berufung Heinrich Laubes an das neu gegründete Wiener Stadttheater, verließ diese Bühne gemeinsam mit Laube 1874 und unternahm Gastspielreisen. 1875-78 trat er zeitweise wieder am Stadttheater in Wien auf und wechselte 1878 an das Burgtheater, dem er bis zuletzt angehörte.

Le premier rédacteur en chef en fut Nadar. Il eut pour directeur Eugène Philipon, puis Th. le Cerf. À partir du numéro 9, la première de couverture présenta une composition originale, laquelle se para de couleurs à partir du numéro 50. Noted British character actress mostly on stage -- more than 100 plays -- but also in such memorable films as "Wuthering Heights" and "Saratoga Trunk" for which she was nominated for best supporting actress Oscar. Uncommon signature in blue ballpoint on a heavy stock 5" X 3" card dated by her 24 June 1972 at upper right. Fine. With original envelope. Accompanied by a superb glossy black-and-white 10" X 8" still scene from the Errol Flyn swashbuckler "The Sea Hawk" showing Robson as Queen Elizabeth with Claude Rains and ladies-in-waiting. Evocative pair. unknown

Superb closeup of Robson in black dress nicely inscribed "Best wishes to / Jean Nelson / May Robson" in white ink on a dark portion making for fine contrast. ROBSON, Stuart (1836-1903)
Autograph Quotation Signed
This American actor was one half of a celebrated comedy team with William H. Crane that toured between 1877 and 1889. AQS 1p 6" X 2" n.p. 1881. Near fine. In Robson's handsome script in bold brown ink he pens: "'Shall we not laugh my masters' / -- Shakespeare. / Affirmatively answered by / Yours Very Truly / Stuart Robson / 1881." Appropriate quotation from a comedic actor -- unfortunately Shakespeare never wrote any such line. Likely Robson is badly misquoting a line from "The Merchant of Venice" Act III Scene I: "If you prick us do we not bleed if you tickle us do we not laugh if you poison us do we not die and if you wrong us shall we not revenge unknown
