231:169 mm. Portrait en face in S/W. - Olga Tschechowa, Nichte des Schriftstellers Anton P. Tschechow, verbrachte Kindheit und Jugend in Georgien, Moskau und St. Petersburg. Ihr Elternhaus hatte Verbindung zum Zarenhof. Sie studierte Bildhauerei an der Kunstakademie in St. Petersburg, wurde Meisterschülerin an der Schauspielschule von Konstantin Stanislawsky in Moskau und erhielt erste Rollen am dortigen Künstlertheater. 1921 kam sie nach Berlin, war als Presse- und Plakatzeichnerin tätig und spielte seit 1922 in zahlreichen Filmen mit. 1925 wurde sie an das Renaissancetheater in Berlin verpflichtet. Nach 1945 eröffnete Tschechowa in Berlin-Friedenau ein eigenes Theater. Ende der fünfziger Jahre zog sie sich vom Film zurück. 1958 gründete Tschechowa, die bereits 1937 ein Kosmetik-Diplom erworben hatte, eine Kosmetikfirma (mit Niederlassungen in München, Berlin und Mailand).

First Edition thus with 30 fine coloured landscape plates all original captioned tissue guards present and printed in brown some light and generally inoffensive spotting mainly marginal; original black card wrappers upper wrappers blocked and lettered in gold sewed as issued yapped edges generally lightly frayed a remarkably well-preserved bright clean set. WITH THE PUBLISHER'S PROSPECTUS FOR THE SERIES AND SEPARATE ORDER FORM LOOSELY INSERTED. This series of coloured reproductions of watercolours held at Farnley Hall in Yorkshire was published first in parts as here and then as a bound volume.
