This is a paperback book. The book is in generally clean condition. The book cover hvae some edge wear rubbing to the spine joints. The bottom rear cover has some nibbling by some rodent and the rear spine joint has a water spot which has discolored. The text pages have noticeable toning but are otherwise mostly clean. The title page has water marking. Published sometime in the 1960's approximately little is known of the author Clarence L. Kincheloe but much is known of the subject of the play - the composer and musician James A. Bland. : "James A. Bland was an entertainer and a prolific composer who wrote sentimental songs about the American South for use in minstrel shows. Bland was born in Flushing New York on October 22 1854 to educated free parents. He briefly studied at Howard University in Washington D. C. but inspired by the spirituals and folk songs he heard performed by ex-slaves working on the Howard campus he soon abandoned academics in favor of a profession in music. A self-taught banjo player Bland initially sought work at clubs and hotels and then turned his attention to composition and minstrel entertainment." "In this play I have not tried to be a propogandist but have sought rather to pay homage to some significant aspects of the life of a man to whom modern popular music owes much. Kleine private Sammlung zum Schauspieler Hans-Jürgen Modschiedler der 1972 als Fünfzehnjähriger in dem Film "Rocker" von Klaus Lemke die Rolle des Mark spielte. 1975 war er einer der beiden Hauptdarsteller in dem Fernsehfilm "Teenagerliebe" den Klaus Lemke für den ZDF-Zyklus "Jugend heute" gedreht hatte. Die Mappe enthält zwei Original-Szenenfotos aus "Rocker" einen Text von Klaus Lemke "Rocker" - Wenn man mit Laien dreht zur Fernsehausstrahlung des Films im ZDF am 2. Februar 1972 ZDF-Journal - Aus der Werkstatt Nr. 2 24. Despite centuries of intertribal contact the American Indian peoples of northwestern California have continued to speak a variety of distinct languages. At the same time they have come to embrace a common way of life based on salmon fishing and shared religious practices. In this thought-provoking re-examination of the hypothesis of linguistic relativity Sean O'Neill looks closely at the Hupa Yurok and Karuk peoples to explore the striking juxtaposition between linguistic diversity and relative cultural uniformity among their communities. O'Neill examines intertribal contact multilingualism storytelling and historical change among the three tribes focusing on the traditional culture of the region as it existed during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. He asks important historical questions at the heart of the linguistic relativity hypothesis: Have the languages in fact grown more similar as a result of contact multilingualism and cultural convergence Or have they instead maintained some of their striking grammatical and semantic differences Through comparison of the three languages O'Neill shows that long-term contact among the tribes intensified their linguistic differences creating unique Hupa Yurok and Karuk identities.
