VHS recording of a murder mystery-comedy-musical ballet sprache: Spanish about 120 minutes b/w; as bad a production with awful plot cheapo sets unending dialogue set in frozen interaction as I have seen in many years despite Alonso's reputation as Cuba's premier film pioneer since the late 1930s. Story of banker and wife inviting friends to their flat for New Year's Eve. Suddenly a deranged astrologer appears to predict 7 of those present will soon be dead. Wacky film noir style stuff includes extra slow dance routines with Blacks as slaves some conga cha cha and rumba numbers dull vocals in the Cuban manner--probably what American tourists saw when they visited Havana hot spots of the time. Interesting and rare but I take no responsibility for the plot line or the acting said to be by some of Cuba's greatest--Lugo Otero Casado Rosell Rosales Bustamente Montes Vega etc. Music by Osvaldo Farres a popular radio host and songwriter of the 1940s.
