‎Kirchliche Topographie von Österreich, III. Abteilung, Band 2 (= Band 10 der Gesamtreihe). - In sich abgeschlossener Einzelband aus der umfangreichen österreichischen Topographie (insgesamt erschienen 18 Bände), die späteren Bände unter dem Reihentitel "Topographie des Erzherzogthums Österreich". Den einzelnen Bänden beigebunden waren in der Regel ein bis zwei Tafeln und teils eine Karte, separat waren beim Verlag noch zahlreiche zusätzliche Ansichten zu beziehen, die üblicherweise den wenigen erhaltenen Bänden nicht beigegeben sind. Wegen der zahlreichen Ortsansichten sind auch Einzelbände vollständig nur selten zu finden. "Auch die in öffentlichen Sammlungen und Bibliotheken bekannt gewordenen Exemplare müssen durchweg als unvollständig bezeichnet werden" (Nebehay/Wagner). - Der vorliegende Band mit drei Ansichten (abweichend zu Nebehay/W., die nur zwei eingebundene Tafeln verlangen): "Das Benedictiner Stift in Kremsmünster", "Der astronom. Thurm im Stifte Kremsmünster", "Umgegend vom Stifte Kremsmünster" (Nebehay/W. 5, 6 und 4). - Gering stockfleckig, vereinzelte unwesentliche Bleistiftanstreichungen im Rand, die beiden letzteren Tafeln etwas gebräunt, vorderer Innendeckel mit kleiner Signatur. Einband gering berieben und bestoßen, Rücken mit wenigen kleinen Kratzstellen und schwachem Schatten eines abgelösten Etiketts. Schönes Exemplar. *Nebehay/Wagner 135 (unter Darnaut).‎

Hawker's most famous work comprises this collection of prose sketches, written originally for a variety of periodicals. First published in book form in 1870, they were re-issued in 1893 together with two previously unpublished essays 'Humphrey Vivian' and 'Old Trevarten' as 'The Prose Works of Rev. R.S. Hawker'. Hawker's close friend J.G. Godwin who added the bibliographical footnotes edited the reissue. The present edition enhances the work still further through the editorship of Byles, the charming illustrations by Pethybridge and plates and portraits from a variety of other sources (including Baring-Gould).‎
