Yet he climbs the steeple for the grand unveiling of the building only to fall to his death. <br /> <br /> Edward Bond was an English writer and director famous for his many plays which lead to the end of theater censorship in the UK including "Saved" 1965. Budapest: Mafilm 1967. Vintage Hungarian program for the 1967 film. Photo-illustrated with scenes from the film including one large image on the entirety of the verso. Text in Hungarian. <br /> <br /> One of the masterpieces of Hungarian cinema. A Russian-Hungarian co-production "The Red and the White" was originally commissioned to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the October Revolution in Russia in which the Bolsheviks seized power. However Jancso chose to set the action two years later in 1919 and showed Hungarian irregulars supporting the Communist "Reds" in fighting the Tsarist "Whites" as the two sides battled for control in the hills overlooking the Volga river. As well as deviating on the required setting Jancso also chose to use a radically different approach to the film than that expected. Rather than shooting a hagiographic account of the birth of Soviet communism Jancso produced a profoundly anti-heroic film that depicts the senseless brutality of the Russian Civil War specifically and all armed combat in general. <br /> <br /> 7.75 x 3.5 folded 15.25 x 10.75 unfolded. She struggles with her allegiance towards her adoptive family and her feelings towards another white man and a bloody battle ensues between the two communities. An uncommon film for its time it highlights the racism Native Americans had to endure from settlers of the Old West. <br /> <br /> A difficult shoot which included a severe back injury sustained by Audrey Hepburn when she fell off a horse director John Huston was unhappy with his producer's insistence on releasing a more commercially friendly film. While<br /> Hepburn and Huston would both eventually distance themselves from the film "The Unforgiven" remains a bold powerfully raw take on the Western with arguably some of the best performances of many of the actors involved. <br /> <br /> 20 x 25.5 inches. When Julius wanders off he is replaced in the film by actor Joseph Chaikin. The film examines the boundaries of reality and sanity and features the screenwriting debut of Sam Shepard and the first feature film appearance of Christopher Walken. <br /> <br /> The film was restored and released by Steidl in 2007 along with a book publication outlining the film. From the Steidl book: "Frank's feature debut was first screened in 1968 at the Venice Film Festival. Everything which had defined Frank’s art up to that point turns up in this film – the look at America 'from the outside' the poetic libertinage of the Beats the marginal in a central role. Denmark: Zentropa Entertainments 2000. Collection of six vintage color still photographs and one borderless photograph of director Lars von Trier on the set of the 2000 film. From the Tele Cine Documentation archive and later the collection of Daniel Bouteiller with respective stamp and label to the verso of four of the stills. <br /> <br /> A tragic and uncommon take on the classic Hollywood Musical Icelandic pop singer Bjork plays a Czechoslovakian immigrant looking to make a better life for her son who has an inherited genetic disorder that will result in blindness for them both unless she buys him a very expensive operation which she eschews for herself. Winner of the Palme d'Or as well as a Cannes award for Bjork for Best Actress and nominated for an Academy Award as well. <br /> <br /> Set in rural Washington state shot on location both in Washington and in Sweden and Denmark. <br /> <br /> 4 x 6 inches. Mother Original Program for the 1926 silent film
Russia: Mezhrabpom-Rus 1927. Vintage German program for the 1926 Russian silent film. Photo-illustrated throughout. The only cinema paper dating from the decade of release we have encountered for the film. <br /> <br /> Based on the 1906 novel by Maxim Gorky about a woman's struggle to free her son from a Czarist prison camp during the Russian Revolution of 1905. The first film in Pudovkin's "revolutionary trilogy" followed by "The End of St. Petersburg" 1927 and "Storm Over Asia" 1928 and a key film in the development of montage techniques in film although in contrast to his colleague Eisenstein Pudovkin tended to use montage to capture individual character rather than mass movements. <br /> <br /> Six pages in self wrappers. Manuscript pencil annotations on the front wrapper. Presenting as Very Good with light chipping and a few short closed tears. Disbound binding repaired with cello tape. Mezhrabpom-Rus unknown

Copy belonging to Ben Colman after previously being owned by screenwriter Maxwell Shane with both of their names and addresses on the first page. <br /> <br /> Based in part on an adventure story by Daniel Defoe. The film opens with a man trying to drown himself in the ocean as he reflects on his journey to this point of his life. Maxwell Shane began as a screenwriter and found his greatest recognition as a director of five key films noir in the 1940s and 1950s including "Fear in the Night" and "City Across the River."<br /> <br /> Blue titled wrappers. Title page present with credits for screenwriter Maxwell Shane and author Daniel Defoe. 145 leaves with last page of text numbered 142. Mechanical duplication. Pages Near Fine wrapper Near Fine bound internally with three gold brads. N.p. unknown
