Pal Fejos director; Ilona Fulop screenwriter; Steven Geray Annabella starring
Spring Shower Original screenplay for the 1932 film
Budapest: Hunnia Filmstudio 1929. Presentation copy of an Early Draft script for the Hungarian film released in Hungry in 1932 as "Tavaszi zapor" in Frace in 1933 as "Marie Legende Hongroise" and in the United States in 1935 as "Spring Shower." Housed in a likely hand-sewn floral cloth-covered portfolio the script is INSCRIBED by the Hungarian-American feminist and radical socialist screenwriter Ilona Fulop on the title page: "To Mac: / Because You still trust me! / Ilona / Christmas 1929 / Hollywood Cal." A unique and attractive item and probably the only surviving copy of the script.

The story of a poor girl driven out of her village when she becomes pregnant by her employer's wealthy fiance finding refuge working as a maid in a brothel. After her daughter is taken from her however she falls into alcoholism and dies. A maid in Heaven as she was on earth she saves her daughter from befalling a similar fate by "emptying her mop bucket" on her daughter's head via a rain shower at a pivotal moment.

A multinational production in which a Hungarian screenwriter and Hungarian director both with experience in Hollywood shot a film starring a French actress using frozen assets from a French producer that had been mandated for exclusively Hungarian use. Though not a box office success at the time it is now regarded as one of the all-time great films originating from the country. In a 1919 article entitled "What is 'Revolution' Doing to Love" screenwriter Fulop describes herself as a socialist radical as opposed to a revolutionary or a Bolshevik and her desire to further equal rights for women strongly defines her as a modern-day feminist as well. "Spring Showers" with its women- and proletarian-friendly plot thus comes as little surprise.

Housed in floral cloth-covered portfolio titled wrappers. Title page present with credits for screenwriter Fulop. 78 leaves with last page of text numbered 77. Carbon typescript. Pages Very Good portfolio Very Good bound with a single line of hand-stitching. Hunnia Filmstudio unknown books

Jacques Rivette director; Jean Gruault screenwriter Betty Schneider Daniel Crohem Francoise Prevost Jean Claude Brialy starr
Paris nous appartient Paris Belongs to Us Original French moyenne poster for the 1961 film
Paris: Ajym Films 1961. Original French moyenne poster affiche for the 1961 French film. Winner of the 1962 Sutherland Trophy for best first or second feature by the British Film Institute. Scarce with only two copies found in Cine-ressources.

A labor of love released after numerous financial woes and a three-year production schedule "Paris Belongs to Us" did not cause the same stir as did the debuts of Rivette's "Cahiers du Cinema" peers though today it is seen as a film with an importance on the same level as the first works of Truffaut Godard and Chabrol.

Rivette retained his post at the journal throughout the 1960s even serving as editor from 1963 to 1965 as the French New Wave was in full swing. It wasn't until the start of the 1970s that Rivette's filmmaking career took off but the sensibilities and aesthetic values behind beloved masterpieces such as "Celine and Julie Go Boating" and "La belle noiseuse" are well on display in an exceptional first effort.

Rivette's career is generally defined by his adherence to long-form storytelling and a sense of structural reflexivity. This first feature serves as a perfect preamble to the epics that followed offering early insight into his sense for both larger scope and narrative complexity. At a confident 140 minutes the runtime of "Paris Belongs to Us" is roughly 40 minutes longer than any other first feature of the French New Wave though it pales in comparison to his later work particularly the twelve-hour "Out 1". Further with its focus on a theatrical Shakespeare production Rivette uses film to comment on its relationship to the stage a theme he would address in future films.

Set and shot in the streets and apartments of Paris.

23 x 31.5 inches folded as issued. Small exhibitor or distributor stamp to recto and verso. About Near Fine with small clean staple holes at corners and vertical fold very minor fold separation at edges and center. A wonderful of example of an unrestored and scarce poster for a landmark debut feature.

BFI 656. Ajym Films unknown books

Pretty Maids All in a Row Collection of three original photographs from the 1971 film
Beverly Hills CA: Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer MGM 1971. Collection of three vintage black-and-white studio still photographs from the 1971 film.

Roger Vadim's followup to "Barbarella" 1956 may be the only sexploitation crime film ever released by a major studio and managed to break just about every cultural taboo in the book even during the uncertain days of the early 1970s. The story and especially the filmmaking style is a strange response to the sexual revolution in 1970 in which a high school full of randy teachers and students in an unnamed Midwestern town become involved in a series of murders. Vadim's attempt to update .".And God Created Woman" from the male perspective has become a cult film that would be sued out of existence today and a fascinating look at the "revolution" from a middle America perspective.

Based on Francis Pollini's 1968 novel. Ocean View High School's resident faculty hero football coach/guidance counselor "Tiger" McDrew Hudson at his greasiest is married and has a child but this doesn't keep him from seducing many of his female students and persuading the new substitute teacher Miss Smith Dickinson to deflower a troubled virgin. Girls start turning up at the school dead in various states of undress with cryptic notes pinned to intimate parts of their anatomy. The county sheriff Keenan Wynn is forced to defer to a state police investigator Savalas who starts nosing around the school.

8 x 10 inches.
