‎Edition originale fort rare. Exemplaire du roi Louis XV, imprimé sur grand papier de Hollande, du célèbre Traité de Vienne de 1738. Le traité de Vienne de 1738 signé le 18 novembre 1738 entre l'Autriche et la France met fin entre ces deux pays à la Guerre de Succession de Pologne. Il comporte plusieurs dispositions dynastiques, qui modifient la carte politique de l'Europe et assurent un nouvel équilibre entre les deux puissances. Des préliminaires de paix sont signés à Vienne dès novembre 1735, trois ans avant le traité final, entre la France de Louis XV et l'empereur Charles VI, chef de la maison de Habsbourg, archiduc d'Autriche, roi de Hongrie et de Bohême. Ces articles préliminaires sont suivis d'une convention d'application, signée à Vienne le 28août1736, relative aux modalités de la cession de la Lorraine, acceptée par une déclaration de François III de Lorraine du 13 décembre 1736. En contrepartie, Louis XV reconnaît la Pragmatique Sanction, par laquelle, en 1713, Charles VI avait établi qu'en l'absence d'un fils, le patrimoine des Habsbourg reviendrait à sa fille aînée. En 1736, celle‑ci, l'archiduchesse Marie-Thérèse, épouse François III. L'Électeur de Saxe, devenu en 1733 roi de Pologne sous le nom d'Auguste III, est maintenu sur le trône de Pologne, son rival Stanislas Leszczyński, aussi élu en 1733, abandonnant toutes ses prétentions, tout en conservant le titre de roi de Pologne. En dédommagement, Stanislas reçoit les duchés de Lorraine et Bar à titre viager ; à sa mort, ils seront réunis au royaume de France (ce qui surviendra en 1766). François III abandonne ses droits sur les duchés de Lorraine et de Bar et se voit offrir en échange le grand-duché de Toscane. En tant qu'époux de Marie-Thérèse, il pourra accéder au trône impérial (accès cependant conditionné par une élection). François conserve quelques territoires mineurs en Rhénanie : les comtés de Falkenstein (près du Mont Tonnerre), de Sarrewerden, de Zutphen. Parmi ses titres lorrains désormais honorifiques, il conserve celui de marquis de Nomeny qui lui donne un rang princier et le droit de siéger aux Diètes d'Empire. Don Carlos, fils de Philippe V d'Espagne et d'Élisabeth Farnèse, renonce à la Toscane et reçoit en échange les royaumes de Naples et de Sicile que lui cède l'Empereur : don Carlos devient ainsi roi des Deux-Siciles et inaugure la dynastie des Bourbons de Naples. Le roi de Sardaigne obtient Novare et une partie du Duché de Milan. Enfin, Elisabeth de Bourbon, fille aînée de Louis XV, épouse Philippe Ier, duc de Parme, frère de don Carlos : c'est le rétablissement de l'alliance dynastique entre la France et l'Espagne. La convention de 1736 est appliquée dès que possible, avant même le traité final, puisque Stanislas Leszczynski prend possession des duchés de Bar et de Lorraine dès mars 1737. François III devient grand-duc de Toscane à la mort de Jean-Gaston de Médicis en juillet 1737. En ce qui concerne la succession au trône impérial, il faudra un nouveau conflit, la guerre de Succession d'Autriche (1740-1748), pour que François III puisse être élu empereur en 1745 sous le nom de François 1er. Précieux et bel exemplaire offert par le roi Louis XV. Louis-François-Armand de la Rochefoucauld de Roye, duc d'Estissac, puis de la Rochefoucauld, premier baron de Champagne, appelé d'abord le comte de Marthon, puis le comte de Roucy, fils de Charles, comte de Blanzac, gouverneur de Bapaume et lieutenant général des armées, et de Marie‑Henriette d'Aloigny de Rochefort, veuve du marquis de Brichanteau de Nangis. Il naquit le 22septembre 1695 ; gouverneur de Bapaume, à la mort de son père, en septembre 1732, brigadier d'infanterie le 20 février 1734, il fut créé duc sous le nom de duc d'Estissac par brevet du 24 octobre1737 et chevalier du Saint-Esprit le 2 février 1749 ; il reçut la charge de grand maître de la garde-robe en décembre 1757, devint chef de sa maison par la mort du dernier duc de la Rochefoucauld, son beau‑père, en 1762, et mourut à Paris le 28 mai 1783. Il avait épousé le 18 novembre 1737, à Paris, Marie de la Rochefoucauld, dite Mademoiselle de la Roche-Guyon, sa cousine.‎

‎Sacramento California 1984. 4to size hardcover with interior three ring binder. The vinyl binder has an illustrated front cover. Interior pockets in the front and back of the book allow you to tuck in additional recipes. The vinyl covers are "washable" and can be wiped with a damp cloth. The book is three inches wide one of the largest community cookbooks we've ever seen. Section dividers are tabbed with name of section and have original full-page sepia illustrations. The same artist has created decoration used throughout the book. There are also several bible quotes scattered throughout the book. Each section is paginated individually but the book does not have a total pagination. There are more than 200 pages in a variety of shades with 500 recipes. Each recipe is "signed" with the name of the contributor; there is no index of contributors. There is no Table of Contents but there is an extensive alphabetical index. Each section also has its own Contents page. This cookbook has one significant unusual feature: these recipes were tested and standardized a note in the book explains that they eliminated "quaint but vague language such as 'take a bissell'". We very rarely come across other community cookbooks other than Junior League that test the recipes. If a recipe calls for a can or package of some ingredient - this book tells you exactly what size to use. It also provides an organized list of ingredients and detailed instructions on how to make the recipe both of which are often missing in community cookbooks. Some recipes are annotated in reproduced handwriting i.e. this was part of the production not a handwritten note from a previous owner. ‎Unique Antiquarian Siddur with Ivory Cover‎

‎1901. Unique Antiquarian Sidder Jewish Prayerbook Circa 1901 with Brass Trimmed Celloid Cover with Bone Celluloid Brass Tin and Velvet Embellishments The title page is missing but this volume is consistent with the book: Form of Prayers and Blessings of Israel with an English Translation published by the Hebrew Publishing Company Brooklyn New York Book opens right to left. 511 pages. 32mo: 4.75 by 3.5 inches in size and 1.75 inches thick. The book is white celluloid with a brass frame on the front and back covers. Teeny brass nails mark the midpoint of the frame closest to the spine on both front and back cover. A detailed brass clasp and peg to hold the volume closed are intact and working. The front cover has many layers of artistry. Working from back to front outside in: a brass frame about a quarter of an inch all around a then a celluloid border about a half inch. On top of that there is a deep very detailed frame of silver colored metal oxidized possibly tin about 4.5 by 2.5 inches. A zig zag border design is around all inner and outer edges of the tin frame. The frame does not respond to a magnet and may be sterling silver or German silver. The center is kind of an ovoid cutout. The embellishments have been incised from a single sheet of silver colored metal some fine detailed work. On top of the silver colored frame and secured by 16 teeny brass nails is a very detailed "lacey" celluloid/faux ivory border. The design ranges from a quarter of an inch at its narrowest to an inch at its widest and features little leaves. Inside the silver colored metal frame is red velvet backing and in the center of that is a handcarved ivory medallion of the 10 Commandments Tablets which is about .75 inch wide and 1.5 inches long. 480 or so pages with Hebrew and English text. The pages are gilt edged all around. The inside covers are lined with a white moire paper. There is a bound in Czecho-Solvakia sticker on rear endpage. The celluloid spine is peeling from the velvet backing and is chipped at all corners. The book itself is fragile. This was a beloved and well used volume that went to shul often and it does have much handling wear and tear. Front hinge is separated with pages prior to page five including title page and contents page missing. Pages 5 to 474 are detached from cover but intact and bound together. Inside front cover is soiled with some losses to the moire. There is a tiny stain in the margin of pages 5/6 and one in the margin of page 285. Pages 7 and 17 have some light blue crayoning. Several folded page corners. Some pages are cut without a margin on the bottom - a publishing error. Back hinge is broken with interior spine exposed at page 474. Page 475/476 is missing and page 477/478 The Hymn of Glory and Prayer for the Goverment is torn and creased. 477 to rear endpage is detached together. Clasp has a slight bend. Back cover has fingermarks. There is tiny spot on front cover. There is a slight bend to the metal frame on the right side. . Ivory; Velvet; Brass; Celluloi. Fair/No Jacket. 32mo - over 4" - 5" tall.
