Album di cm. 24x34 contenente 84 belle fotografie di cui 83 di cm. 11,5x16,5 e una di cm. 5,5x7,5. Anni 1930/1940 circa. Le foto riguardano il viaggio della Nave scuola ALICE dell’Aeronautica Militare nel Mediterraneo. Stretto di Messina, Malta, Campo di Mellaba (Tripoli), Leptis Magna, Baia di Abukir, Famagosta, Bengasi, Barca, Alessandria, Cairo, Rodi, Corinto, Atene... Con una foto dell’incontro in mare della barca a vela del Console d’Italia. Lo yacht ALICE, di proprietà della Regia Aeronautica, è stato utilizzato come nave appoggio idrovolanti per le crociere transatlantiche di Balbo. PRINCESSE ALICE II, costruita da Laird a Birkenhead come yacht e nave per ricerche oceanografiche per il principe Alberto I Grimaldi, completata ad aprile 1898, 1042 poi 930 poi 1067 poi 1094 tonn. di stazza lorda. Venduta a Lord Inverclyde nel 1914 come BERYL, noleggiata dall'Ammiragliato dal gennaio 1915 fino al marzo 1919 col pendant no. 032, nel 1921 alla Commercial Cable Co. come posacavi col nome GEORGE WARD, nel 1925-26 ad Attilio Gatti Spedizioni di La Spezia come ARDITA II, nel 1927 a Tito Campanella di Genova come yacht ALICE. Nel 1930 alla SA di Navigaz. Aerea, Genova, e nel 1933 alla Regia Aeronautica. Utilizzata per le trasvolate di Italo Balbo, dal 1930 nave scuola per l'Accademia Aeronautica. Catturata a Port de Bouc l'8 Settembre 1943, nel luglio 1944 in servizio come SG 23 (Schnell Geleitboot, nave scorta veloce) per la Kriegsmarine, poi prevista come nave appoggio per 16 lance dragamine, autoaffondata a Marsiglia il 27 agosto 1944 nel Bacino Mirabeau, demolita nel 1946/47. Inoltre sono presenti le riproduzioni di lettere e documenti originali. Il volume accoglie la testimonianza di un sopravvissuto alla Seconda Guerra Mondiale. Renato Gnerucci, marinaio, racconta in prima persona le concitate ore ed i giorni successivi al comunicato di Pietro Badoglio "La guerra è finita tornate tutti alle vostre case". E' il racconto di una travagliata fuga in mare, attraversando l'Adriatico di notte,scappando dai soldati Tedeschi che stavano raggiungendo Fiume. La narrazione è arricchita anche da numerose immagini fotografiche, scattate dallo stesso Gnerucci durante il suo servizio a Fiume Sussak Porto Baross, e documenti e lettere relative a quel periodo e agli anni successivi. Segue il racconto la "Lettera ad un amico" che il cortonese Gnerucci scrive nel 1978 ricordando ancora la brutta avventura vissuta. Libro
