Vol. 2.= Mühimme defterlerinde Kudüs, (1601-1699). Cilt 2. Within the framework of a long-term research project on the history of Al-Quds, IRCICA produces a series of studies based on Ottoman official archive documents. Of particular importance are the Ottoman State's Muhimme Registers, where the decisions of the Ottoman Council of Ministers were recorded. Thus the registers contain information concerning the social, economic, cultural and architectural history and heritage of al-Quds. The publication contains reproductions of the originals, transcriptions, and English, Arabic and Turkish summaries of each document in the Muhimme Registers. The series started with publication of documents dating from the 16th century. It will continue with studies on documents dating from subsequent periods.

Anadolu'da bulunan Türkçe yazilmis ilk metinlerden yeni bir kesif (Metinler - çeviri - inceleme - dizin).
New Turkish Paperback. Demy 8vo. (21 x 14 cm). In Turkish. 72 p., b/w plates. Anadolu'da bulunan Türkçe yazilmis ilk metinlerden yeni bir kesif (Metinler - çeviri - inceleme - dizin). As a new discovery, an Arabic manuscript book is found recently which has an unlighted identity and content that is progressively being analysed in detail. Interestingly in a few texts written in Turkic of the manuscript, Turkic phrases "olga" and "bolga" are both used, indicatively both Eastern Turkic and Western Turkic features can be seen in the texts. And thus, indications of the Turkic language Seljukian which has an "hybrid" grammatical specialities are determined in the texts of the manuscript. The texts are on the illuminating point of the Turkish language history from the perspective of their lingual historical era and for the progression in the centuries of the Turkish language. Grammatical specialities of the texts are also very important for the researches on the history and sources of Turkish language and literature in terms of increasing the present accumulation of knowledge. This book comprises the first results and stage of the analyse and reconnoitre on the manuscript which is conserved as an important discovery. Following results and stages of the research in order to get advanced conclusions are planned on the manuscript. In this work, methodologically at first, general physical features and the condition of the manuscript are clarified and a philological commentary on the Turkish language era of the texts, transcription, translation, detailed grammatical index and facsimiles of the 4 Turkic texts existing in the manuscript are presented.

The dervishes of sovereignty, the sovereignty of dervishes: The Mevlevi Order in Istanbul.= Saltanatin dervisleri, dervislerin saltanati: Istanbul'da Mevlevilik.
New English Paperback. Pbo. Large 8vo. (22 x 20 cm). In English and Turkish. 274 p., color and b/w ills. The dervishes of sovereignty, the sovereignty of dervishes: The Mevlevi Order in Istanbul.= Saltanatin dervisleri, dervislerin saltanati: Istanbul'da Mevlevilik. Due to Unesco's designation of 2007 as the 800th anniversary of Mevlânâ Celâleddîn-i Rûmî's (1207-1273) birth, Suna and Inan Kiraç Foundation Istanbul Research Institute prepared the exhibition The Dervishes of Sovereignty, The Sovereignty of Dervishes: The Mevlevî Order in Istanbul, in order to shed light upon the Sufi history of Istanbul and to commemorate once again the life of Rumi. A mystical institution of medieval Islam at the end of 13th century with respect to its social and cultural roots, the Mevlevî Order assumes its unique place in the world due to Istanbul's close interaction with the Renaissance in Europe and embarks upon a journey that leads from Konya to Istanbul, upon Sultan Mehmed II's conquest of the latter. As part of the historical continuum that lasts for centuries, the Mevlevî Order is transformed from an Eastern mentality to becoming the epitome of an intellectual and spiritual bridge between the East and the West. Following the inauguration of the Galata Mevlevî Lodge in 1491, although the Order finds the opportunity to expand into the Balkan and Mediterranean geography, the Mevlevî sheikh families of Istanbul lay the foundations of the Istanbul Mevlevî Order as of the mid-17th century. Representing the chivalry of word, the universality of heart, and the sanctity of spirit, the Mevlevîs of Istanbul weave the Mevlevî symbolism, which has been shaped in the medieval mystical culture of Islam, into the texture of daily life. In an effort to give spirit to matter, these unique men are the architects of a vast cultural spectrum that ranges from clothing to ordinary objects and from works of art to colloquial language. Brought to life through the collaborative efforts of exhibition curator Ekrem Isin and exhibition consultant Prof. M. Baha Tanman and comprised of levhas (panels), engravings, photographs, and daily objects, which constitute an important part of the visual archives of the Ottoman Empire, The Dervishes of Sovereignty, The Sovereignty of Dervishes: The Mevlevî Order in Istanbul exhibition and catalogue is a mystical journey into the ney-playing, whirling dervishes.

The sifahanes of philanthropic monuments of the Seljuk and Ottoman eras.= Anadolu Selçuklu ve Osmanli sefkat abideleri sifahaneler.
New New English Original bdg. Dust wrapper. 4to. (30 x 25 cm). In English and Turkish. 336 p., ills. The sifahanes of philanthropic monuments of the Seljuk and Ottoman eras.= Anadolu Selçuklu ve Osmanli sefkat abideleri sifahaneler. Over the course of centuries, charitable institutions such as schools, madrasas, caravansaries, public baths, mosques, and soup kitchens were built in the Seljuk and Ottoman lands as monuments of voluntary service to the people. Based on religious beliefs cast in the mold of beneficence, Anatolia was endowed with these monuments of compassion. One example of these institutions was the hospitals. In these institutions people were treated free of charge regardless of their religion, the language they spoke, or their race. Sifahenes were the hospitals of the time. They were treatment sanctuaries for travelers, merchants, and the homeless. These darüssifas, which assumed the role of hospitals, took shape during the era of Islamic civilization and continued to provide service throughout the Seljuk and Ottoman eras as wel. Sufahanes, regarded as "a house of healing" or "a refuge of health", were usually called a darüssifa (house of healing); however, in different eras and different places they were referred to as bîmarhâne (house for the sick), bîmâristan, mâristan (abode of the sick), dârülmerza (house of the sick), dârülâfiye (house of wellbeing), dârüssihha (house of health; Arabic) sifahane, (house of health; Persian) dârü't-tibb (house of medicine), sifaiyye (that which is for healing), and tîmârhâne (house of caressing).

The Christian Saints of Turkey is an introductory guide to people, places, events, and texts of the early church of Asia Minor (modern Turkey). The time frame of the book is more functional than academic, it begins with the New Testament and ends in 1453. The book's layout is unique and userfriendly. It contains 300 short descriptive "profiles" that are listed numerically (1 to 300), with no chapters. The numbering system allows for crossreferencing within the individual "profiles." The book also includes two table of contents, one chronological and the other geographical. The goal of the book is help people worldwide not only discover that Turkey is the land of the Bible, but it is also the primary and central land of the early church. There is no other book of its kind available today.
