An den Studienrat Pekrun in Berlin betreffs der verspäteten Rückmeldung auf die Anfrage nach Einreichungen: "Sie werden mich aber ganz bestimmt entschuldigen, wenn ich Ihnen sage, daß mir die durch schwere Krankheiten in der Familie und durch meine fast dauernde Arbeitslosigkeit eingetretene Not und Sorge um das tägliche Brot, meine ganzen Gedanken und meine Zeit in Anspruch nahmen - Na, vielleicht ist es doch noch nicht zu spät [...]". Die eingereichte Sentenz lautet: "Das ehemals so schöne, große, stolze Deutschland kann nur dann wieder erstarken, wenn die jetzt gegenseitig mit so großem Haß erfüllten Parteien, sich zur Einigkeit wiedergefunden [...]". - Mit gedr. Briefkopf "Komponist und Kapellmeister". Geschrieben als Beitrag für die von Friedrich Koslowsky im Berliner Eigenbrödler-Verlag herausgegebene Faksimile-Anthologie "Deutschlands Köpfe der Gegenwart über Deutschlands Zukunft" (1928), jedoch nicht mehr darin aufgenommen. - Julius Einödshofer zog sich Anfang der 1920er Jahre aus dem Theaterbetrieb zurück, leitete eine Theateragentur, war Präsident des Berliner Verbandes der Theaterkapellmeister und dirigierte zudem weiter für den Rundfunk.

Un giornalista lì presente racconta che lei «suona il clavicembalo in maniera brillantissima», mentre il piccolo è «un fenomeno così straordinario che si stenta a credere». I due sono applauditi e apprezzati al punto che viene loro concesso di baciare la mano delle figlie del re e di intrattenersi in conversazione con la regina. Si tratta di Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart e di sua sorella Maria Anna, accompagnati dal padre Leopold, che osserva la scena orgoglioso dei figli e stupefatto dalla magnificenza del luogo, mentre memorizza ogni aspetto e rituale dell'aristocrazia per poterne poi raccontare nelle sue lettere. L'epistolario raccolto in "I primi viaggi e il Grand Tour in Europa" ripercorre gli anni iniziali e sfavillanti della precoce carriera musicale di Mozart attraverso le parole appassionate, intelligenti e severe del padre, dalle esibizioni a Vienna nel 1762 per l'imperatore Francesco I a quelle nelle case nobiliari di Parigi, Monaco, Lione, Amsterdam, Zurigo e di tante altre città nel corso di tre intensi anni di attività concertistica e compositiva, durante i quali il bambino prodigio scrive le sue prime sonate e sinfonie e, rientrato a Salisburgo, la sua prima opera, "La finta semplice". From Wikipedia: "Lazarus Edward Nnanyelu Ekwueme born 28 January 1936 popularly known as Laz Ekwueme is a Nigerian musicologist composer scholar and actor. He is one of the pioneer lecturers of music in Nigeria and also a prolific writer. He is a scholar who has written numerous articles and books on music especially the role of music in the lives of Africans and Africans in diaspora. He is the traditional ruler of Oko Kingdom. While studying in Britain he embraced the theatre and he was an actor in some African films produced by the African Service of the British Broadcasting Corporation. He left Britain in 1964 and returned to Nigeria where he took up a faculty position at the University of Nigeria Nsukka. As a lecturer of music composition theory history singing and conducting he was an important member in the pioneering Nigerian music department at Nsukka which was the first to award music degrees in the country. He also gave considerable attention to choral music organising the University of Nigeria Choral Society a group of foreign and local students who performed regularly in Nsukka. In 1966 he went abroad to obtain a post graduate degree in music theory from Yale University. He also taught at the college and a few other colleges in America. While at Yale he founded the New Haven International Chorus. In 1974 he returned to Nigeria this time he was given a faculty position by Jacob Ade Ajayi in the newly created department of music at the University of Lagos and also appointed as a research fellow in the Center for Cultural Studies. It was while in Lagos he formed the Laz Ekwueme National Chorale that was a highly respected African choral group. Overtime with experience in musical experimentation he became one of the few early Nigerian composers to produce successful musical syncretism of African choral works using western forms and techniques with the result generating wide appeal among Africans and little difficulties or distortion in conveying meaning of the words being song.5 For his effort in music composition and conducting he was made the coordinator of the Nigerian National Choir at the Black Arts Festival Festac 77. As a music scholar he explored distinctive indigenous African rhythm and melody in some songs of the New world and American music a theme that was one of the vocal points of his research efforts. As a researcher he spent time studying musical patterns of Africans Caribbean and African Americans. He noticed the similarities in ways in which African Americans in Louisiana and Africans in Dahomey sing songs. Also the importance and employment of music in cardinal events in the lives of Africans and those in diaspora is a theme prevalent in many of his research efforts.". 1st ed No additional printings listed. 6 ff., notated in black ink on 12-stave Cameo Music Papers No. 5-3124, rectos only. Folio. Signed at the foot of each page and dated "Cairo 1960" on first and last pages. With copyright notices to foot of page 1: "2016 by Halim El-Dabh Music LLC", signed, and "1960 by C.F. Peters Corp 373 Park Ave. South New York, N.Y. 10016". A fair copy, including autograph note to page 3: "In whichever order, try to include as many notes within the time limits, including some in chords if so desired. Start and end with one of the heavy shaded notes". - "Conceived in 1954, 'Thulathia' was composed in 1960 and first performed at the Brookline Public Library in Brookline, Massachusetts. 'Thulathia' means 'a cello unification of three into one', i. e., 'a trio in one'. Grape clusters of the vine connect the energy. The concept is extended to include a cluster of grapes in a united grape vine. Instructions for playing the grapes is explained at the bottom of page 3" (notes provided by the composer). - The Egyptian-born American composer, performer, ethnomusicologist, and educator El-Dabh came to the U.S. in 1950, becoming a part of the New York music scene that included Cage, Varèse, and Hovhaness. He went on to study composition with Krenek, Copland, Dallapiccola, and others. An early pioneer of electronic music, El-Dabh composed one of the earliest known works of tape music, or "musique concrète", in 1944, 'The Expression of Zaar'. He also scored four ballets for Martha Graham: 'Clytemnestra' (1958), 'One More Gaudy Night' (1961), 'A Look at Lightning' (1962), and 'Lucifer' (1975). "El-Dabh is probably the best known composer of Arabic descent and his works are highly regarded in Egypt, where he is considered the foremost living composer among that nation's 'second generation' of contemporary composers" (Wikipedia). - Slightly worn and creased; light red stain to upper left margin of pages 1 and 5.

Copies belonging to playwright Jerome Coopersmith with his occasional annotations in manuscript ink and pencil to two scripts. <br /> <br /> Laid in with the Revised Draft are three manuscript leaves in Coopersmith's hand noting editorial thoughts and revisions to dialogue.<br /> <br /> The play was first staged at Massachusetts State College in 1967 then in a musical version at Hunter College in 1974 and finally in 1984 at the National Portrait Gallery in Washington DC in conjunction with the Eleanor Roosevelt Centennial. <br /> <br /> A dramatization of the early life of Eleanor Roosevelt focusing on her romance and eventual marriage to Franklin and her attempts to balance motherhood with political involvement and a career. Coopersmith's first venture into writing for the stage following a successful career writing for television.<br /> <br /> First Draft:<br /> <br /> Green untitled Studio Duplicating Service wrappers.
