Se c'è un'accusa che si sente fare, spesso a ragione, alla musica leggera italiana, è quella di non riuscirsi a staccare nettamente dalla tradizione, dal bel canto, dal discorso orecchiabile e commerciabile. Eppure in certi anfratti del pop nostrano mainstream qualcosa è accaduto: microrivoluzioni ad opera di audaci che tentavano di districarsi dalla stretta delle proprie radici, manovre ardimentose per arrivare alla gente fregandosene dell'etichetta, provando nuove strade a proprio rischio e pericolo, accollandosi il fallimento degli esperimenti di laboratorio. Al Bano e Romina, Scialpi, Cicciolina, i Matia Bazar, Giuni Russo, Battiato, Rettore, i Krisma, Nada, Ivan Cattaneo, Maria Sole... Questi sono solo alcuni degli artisti raccontati da Stefano Di Trapani, meglio conosciuto come Demented Burrocacao: eroi disobbedienti (o forse schiavi liberati) dell'industria musicale che sono diventati sciamani, veggenti, esploratori dello spazio-tempo, e hanno trasformato le radio pagate profumatamente dalle multinazionali discografiche in un paradossale veicolo di insurrezione. «Chi va in cerca del futuro è un uomo fuori dal suo tempo», cantava Edoardo Bennato, forse intendendo che i destinatari dei messaggi di rivolta non erano gli ascoltatori di quell'epoca: eravamo noi, i giovani e i meno giovani dell' «anno che verrà».
