MACHEN, ARTHUR (author) : HARVEY, LAURENCE R (narrator) : BOZZONE, CHRIS (music)
ARTHUR MACHEN - The GREAT GOD PAN Metallic Gold 3 Vinyl LP Record set w/ poster
Cadabra Records 2022. Audio Book. Illus. by Karmazid cover art. New. Audio Book LP. 1st Edition. Vinyl LP Record 3 Record Set - New Sealed in publisher's shrinkwrap - Comes with poster - Arthur Machen The Great God Pan 3 x LP set Read by Laurence R. Harvey score by Chris Bozzone - Metallic gold vinyl variant - Limited pressing on 150 gram vinyl - Fully unabridged reading - Printed on a deluxe triple gatefold jacket - Essay by weird fiction scholar S. T. Joshi - 24" X 36" promotional poster - Newly commissioned art by Karmazid - Arthur Machen's novella The Great God Pan written in the waning years of the 19th century combines the science fiction trope of man meddling in affairs beyond which he ought as introduced in Mary Shelley's Frankenstein half a century prior and the pagan mysteries of nature as explored by Machen himself in "The White People" around the same time. - When science meddles in the world of natural law in stories such as these the results are invariably horrific and bring ruin upon all who engage with it. However it is the long tail of destruction wrought by Dr. Raymond's opening experiment upon the young woman Mary which resulted in the veil being lifted from her sight and allowing her to see the Great God Pan. As these intersecting stories are related Harvey's ability to switch effortlessly between straightforward logical delivery of men of means and science and those who believe in the mystery being explored allows him to properly imbue the material with its emotional heft. . Macioce S. (cur.); De Pascale E. (cur.)
La musica al tempo di Caravaggio. Ediz. illustrata
ill., br.

Governor Sprague's Grand March - Sheet Music
Philadelphia: Lee & Walker 1862. First Edition. Sheet Music. Very Good. 6 pages including the cover. Portrait illustration of Sprague on the front cover. Once bound so slightly trimmed with a rough left edge. Light wear and soiling. Small owner's stamp in upper right corner of the cover.

William Sprague was the Governor of Rhode Island when the Civil War began and although not a Republican he pledged President Lincoln military support from his state. Following the shelling of Ft. Sumter Rhode Island raised two regiments of infantry under the command of Colonel Ambrose Burnside. Sprague firmly believed that the war would be over in a matter of days once combat began so he accompanied the state's regiments to the Battle of Bull Run where he served as an aide to Burnside and had his horse shot out from under himself while doing so.

After the union defeat Sprague realized that the war would continue for some time so he returned to the Governor's Office. Sprague remained loyal to Lincoln and attended the Loyal War Governor's Conference at Altoona Pennsylvania in 1862 which despite some contentious issues reaffirmed support for Lincoln's management of the war and provided support for Lincoln to issue a preliminary emancipation proclamation decreeing that he would order the emancipation of all slaves in any state that did not cease its rebellion against the United States before 1 January 1863. Shortly after the conference Sprague resigned his position to run for the Senate in which he would serve for the next twelve years.

At the time of listing this version of the music is not listed in OCLC.

Lee & Walker books

MacKaye, Percy (text); Reginald de Koven (music)
The Canterbury Pilgrims: An Opera
NY: Macmillan. VG/FAIR only see notes. 1916. 1st THUS. hardcover. 8vo . 63pp . Several bad tears to DJ. Signed by the author noting it was his pleasure to get the friendly comments of Paderewsky etc. Percy MacKaye was a playwright poet and educator of the first half of the 20th century. He was an integral part of the Cornish Arts Colony in New Hampshire which coalesced around the sculptor Augustus St. Gaudens at the turn of the century. While it would be hard to pinpoint the notables that MacKaye hobnobbed with the Colony in various years included the likes of artists Maxfield Parrish Frederic Remington Everett Shinn and Daniel Chester French. Other 'names' who spent time there include dancer Isadora Duncan actresses Ethel Barrymore and Marie Dressler even the editor Max Perkins. One of his plays produced there included two of Woodrow Wilson's daughters with Wilson in attendance. He had several talented children and was the son of the 19th century actor Steele MacKaye and the brother of conservationist Benton MacKaye who was instrumental in the inception of the Appalachian Trail. . Mackenzie, Alexander Campbell, Komponist und Dirigent (1847-1935).
Eigenh. Brief mit U. London, 6. XI. 1910.
2½ SS. 8vo. Briefkopf der Royal Academy of Music.
