Two small closed tears to the fore-edge of the front wrap. Scarce. Cover art by Utah artist John Held Jr. Utah Artist John Held Jr. 1889-1958 was a prominent illustrator of the 1920s and 1930s. He began by drawing sports and political drawings for The Salt Lake Tribune when he was just 16 years old. Held moved to New York City in 1910 where he went on to gain notoriety for his drawings in the popular magazines "Life" "The New Yorker" "Vanity Fair" "Judge" and "College Humor." His work epitomized the Jazz Age. He is most recognized for creating the short-haired "flapper." The cover of this publication features one of Held's maps. Held's maps illustrate the diversity of his art while at the same time serving to demonstrate Held's interpretation of various notable places and things. Kori Alexander writes in his article entitled Relevant Magic in the Art of John Held Jr. "While it was Held's caricatures of the young college chaps and flapper girls that earned him public notoriety it was his linoleum cuts and pen and ink maps that fortified his legitimacy as a social commentator." ref. 214048Early 20th Century. Colour folding game sheet some light browning and a few small holes at folds but overall a good and attractive game. 54 x 80cm. The title of this board game sheet indicates that the game is designed for two opposing sides with one side acting as the attackers and the other as the defenders. The defending side possesses more naval power compared to the attacking side. Although specific playing instructions are not provided information on the right-hand side suggests that offensive tactics should involve either seizing or charging. At the top and bottom there are lists of rear force units for both sides including docks for housing captured enemy boats and sunken boats Red Cross field hospitals and facilities for casualties. Additionally in the corners two small illustrations of warships are printed in blue ink. . unknown

2023ref. B2308262Aktif Yayinevi 2023. New. n/a n/a Türkiye has a long history of combatting terrorism. Through these terrorist acts Türkiye has gone through a lot of tragedy. Moreover all of these attacks were committed by a transnational network; thus making Türkiyes counter-terrorism experience unique. Despite this experience's scope and uniqueness Türkiyes counter-terrorism efforts are under-researched. Due to Turkish efforts against PKK terrorism in the last four decades counter-terrorism has become a specific area for securocrats. This situation has driven away scholarly interest in the topic. Another reason was the tactic adopted by PKK militants which focused on exploiting freedom of speech in academia by using it for mere propaganda. Eventually Turkish counter-terrorism stayed as an under-researched area. This book is focusing on to say something on the issue in a scholarly fashion to advance the discussion on the topic. As it is explained; works on the topic are limited in Turkish academia; thus by publishing this study it is expected to initiate a scholarly debate. Aktif Yayinevi unknown
