A souvenir pennant supporting Muhammad Ali in his heavyweight championship fight against George Foreman-known as the "Rumble in the Jungle"-in Kinshasa Zaire. The design places "Ali for Champ" above a map of Africa with Zaire marked flanked by the fighters' names and their respective titles: Ali as "The People's Champ" and Foreman as "World Heavyweight Champ." The printed date of October 29 reflects the American viewing date. The fight began at approximately four in the morning on October 30 in Kinshasa timed to reach evening audiences in the United States. Ali entered the bout seeking to regain the heavyweight title he had lost in 1967 after refusing induction into the U.S. armed forces. The undefeated Foreman was heavily favored but Ali's strategy of absorbing punches against the ropes allowed him to conserve energy while tiring his opponent. Ali knocked Foreman out in the eighth round becoming heavyweight champion for the second time. . N.p. unknown
