1944rif. 326271Evansville IN: Employees' War Production Committee 1944. Spiral_bound. Unpaginated perhaps ninety pages b&w site photography throughout a much-thumbed copy with creasings to covers handling signs to free margins and a snag to plastic spine. Interior is cleanly and unmarked. A good copy; all photos without being masterpieces combine in sequence to compellingly record the site's transformation and the stages of shipbuilding in steel. Shipyard photos are credited to Jack Rusche and Don Followell and a group photograph of committee members 25 or so occupies the terminal page; other shots record their leisure activity in costume to music. Additional US Navy photos show the ships en route and at destinations such as Marianas Islands. We note that amongst the seven engineering firms engaged in this "joint venture" two are Bechtel-related with aforementioned Missouri Valley Bridge taking the lead. Titlepage text states that the item was "Produced. for the Men and Women of The Evansville Shipyard" implying limited distribution. Employees' War Production Committee unknown books

1789rif. 42124Boston: Printed by Adams & Nourse 1789. 54pp with the half title but lacking the final blank. Disbound. Half title and title leaves moderately foxed. Else a clean text. Good plus. Bridge speaks a few weeks after Washington's inauguration as President: "Man was originally formed for society and furnished with faculties adapted thereto." But not just any society-- only one which like the United States under its Constitution "protects the subjects in the peaceable possession of their just rights properties and priviledges." Bridge rejects one-man rule because the temptations of power are corrupting. He notes that God helped us obtain independence "upon terms too as honorable to America as they were humiliating to Britain." The rulers' task is to encourage education and useful pursuits and to distribute justice fairly and impartially. Bridge pleads for the bond-holders of the new country. They should be paid in full. "They risqued their dear-earned interest and their still dearer lives for the freedom of their country." America he says is "blest with the bright beams of gospel light and grace." FIRST EDITION.
