1921ref. 56000Rome: La Vita Italiana 1921. First Italian edition. Softcover. g- to g. Octavo. 190 1pp. Tan paper wrappers with text in black and red on covers and spine. Translator not credited. The first Italian edition of the infamous and influential anti-Semitic forgery is quite scarce and is the only edition to have been published prior to the Fascist takeover of the country which occurred the following year. The book includes the full text of the Protocols and introductory comments as well as an extensive 60-page appendix at the rear prepared by publisher Giovanni Preziosi. Initial text at the front of the publication also includes Italian translations of the preface from the original 1920 London edition and the original introductory text from the 1905 Russian edition. It is interesting to note that even this early in the publication history of the Protocols editors were already admitting to the questionable authenticity of the text that they were so rabidly promoting as can be seen in the introductory comments here. The publication was issued by the right-wing political journal La Vita Italiana which was headed by prominent Italian anti-Semitic and nationalist writer Giovanni Preziosi 1881-1945 who would go on to become a prominent figure in Italian Fascist publishing. Wrappers with light staining and sunning. Spine with closed tears and rubbing to the head and tail. Interior with foxing to the half-title pages as well as additional sporadic minor to light foxing to additional pages throughout. Book block loosening at the title page. Wrappers in good- interior in good condition overall. Subtitle: Versione Italiana con Appendice Scarce edition with only 2 holdings in North America per OCLC. La Vita Italiana unknown books
