1912réf. 6132London United Kingdom: Privately Printed 1912. First Edition. soft. Good. N/A. Publication: London Privately Printed Twenty-One York Buildings Adelphi 1912 Formatting: 8vo pp. 42. Condition Report: Good. The fragile original paper wrappers exhibit moderate uneven sunning and toning most notably a pronounced band of browning along the fore-edges alongside typical edge-wear inherent to yapp-style bindings including minor creasing rubbing and slight chipping to the spine ends and corners. The binding itself remains completely secure and taut having avoided the splits or detachments commonly seen in sewn pamphlets of this age. Internally the text block is exceptionally clean bright and legible largely free from foxing or spotting with only very faint peripheral toning to the leaves. It is a highly presentable survivor of an inherently delicate publication format. Catalogue Note: First edition. This slim volume of verse was privately printed by Vivian Locke Ellis at his own Adelphi address and stands as a notable artifact of early 20th-century independent poetry publishing. The front endpaper bears the contemporary ownership signature of the British economic historian and medievalist Eileen Power "Eileen E Power" dated 15 January 1913 acquired shortly after the completion of her studies at Cambridge. This edition is currently rare on the open market with Locke Ellis’s small self-published print runs seldom surfacing for public retail. A scarce collection of early 20th-century verse privately printed by the English poet Vivian Locke Ellis in 1912. Closely associated with the modernist literary circles of John Middleton Murry and the Adelphi Press Ellis's work reflects a quiet dedication to lyrical independence. This particular copy features the early ownership signature of the renowned historian Eileen Power offering a pleasing point of provenance for a unique survival of Edwardian literary history.
