On constate un accident au deuxième volume concernant le plat supérieur et au quatrième concernant le plat inférieur à savoir un manque de cuir en remontant le long du mors sans doute occasionné par un vers le prix en tient compte ; quelques coins très légèrement frottés et 2 coiffes légèrement arasées sinon les quatres volumes sont en très bon état intérieurs très frais comme neufs tranches très lisses et dos sans aucune dégradations ; PHOTOS sur demande. 4 volumes in-12. dos à 5 nerfs avec motifs floraux filets et titres dorés ; toutes tranches rouges. unknown

Solida legatura moderna m. pelle color salmone e angoli con piatti marmorizzati e titolo in oro su duplice tassello nero al dorso. Taglio superiore spruzzato. Antiporta incisa su rame dal Tanje' su invenzione di Kneller con ritratto di Locke entro ovale con dicitura dei suoi estremi. Frontespizio impresso in rosso e in nero con vignetta calcografica. Testatine cul-de-lampe e capilettera ornati e istoriati su rame. Bell'esemplare in barbe e a pieni margini con sporadici aloni e fioriture. Quinta edizione francese recante ex-novo il ritratto di Locke migliorata nell'assetto tipografico. La traduzione del Coste fu supervisionata al suo uscire da Locke medesimo; essa in quanto redatta in una lingua allora molto piu' ecumenica dell'inglese concorse potentemente alla diffusione delle teorie gnoseologiche di Locke in ambito europeo e nella stessa Italia dove la versione di Francesco Soave si mantenne su un piano incomparabilmente inferiore. Lo stesso Leibniz lesse l'opera soltanto nella traduzione del Coste un protestante francese che aveva trovato rifugio in Olanda. Brunet III 1138.
