ref. 002977Hardcover. VG. 16.5 Cms x 24.5 Cms. This collection is fairly lavishly bound with gilt decorated panelled leather sp. with 2 labels and marbled boards clean & unworn bar some very minor rubbing to bottom edge extremities all quite unrubbed or bumped internally the supplied brown endpapers & pastedowns are clean unmarked and quite undamaged. The papers are all- from The Nineteenth Century bar 2 from Fortnightly Review and one from Contemporary Review. 3 by Huxley 4 by Romanes 3 by the Duke of Argyll 4 by St.J.Mivart 2 by Max Mullerone each by Herbert Spencer Lewes Lombroso Kropotkin and Lankester others by less well-remembered figures. Nearly all are on some aspect of the evolutionary thought religion or both. There seems to be no rhyme or reason in the order although Huxley's trio are all at the beginning. Fuller details on request. Occ. light pencilled marginal marking occ.brown spotting. The binding has been quite painstaking with first pages often carefully pasted to verso of final pages.
