This edition modeled after the 1934 Limited Editions Club reissue of the 1901 revised edition includes a special introduction by Aldous Huxley and woodcut illustrations by Rockwell Kent as well as prefaces to the first second and revised editions - in one of these Butler addresses public perception that Erewhon's success was owed to the contemporary publication of The Coming Race by Edward Bulwer-Lytton another utopian novel. Both were originally published anonymously and it was widely and erroneously assumed that Butler's work was a sequel to Bulwer-Lytton's. Butler explains in the preface that his novel was completed before the other was printed and that the two bear no relation to one another. The Heritage Press hardcover books
