Hitler then made sweeping changes to the election process control of government agencies with a broad reaching Enabling Act and by the end of the year the republic was no more. The 1936 Summer Olympics was held in Berlin and became a showcase for Germany's dramatic changes to Germany's government and society by Hitler and the Nazi party.
