Through interviews with Trudeau's past and present associates, through study and translation of writings not previously published in English, the author has assembled a fascinating story which supplies the material for readers to make up their own minds about this remarkable, yet curiously remote Canadian. "We haven't been able to make it work, the free market system... the government is going to have to take a larger role in running institutions... It means there is going to be not less authority in our lives but perhaps more...." Book

17588vo. pp. (18), 234, (99). Title page printed in red & black, but age soiled. Disbound. Sallust was a famed Roman historian and politician. He was tribune of the people (52 B.C.) and praetor (46). He was ejected (50) from the senate ostensibly for adultery, but more probably because of his partisanship for Caesar. He served with Caesar after his praetorship and was his governor in Numidia; he was s ubsequently accused of misusing his governorship for personal gain. His principal works are the Bellum Catilinae, on the conspiracy of Catiline and his account of the Jugurthine War, Bellum Jugurthinu m. His history of Rome is extant only in fragments; it probably covered the period 78 B.C. to 67 B.C. As a historian Sallust was important as one of the first to write historical monographs dealing wi th sharply limited events and periods. Although his style is consciously archaic, it is distinguished by its terseness and directness. His character sketches are particularly impressive and vivid, and his work has found as many imitators as critics - Columbia Encyclopedia. . **PRICE JUST REDUCED! W121 Rear L

1946152 pages. Black and white photographic plates. "This book does not claim to have said anything new, but is rather a reviewing of an old story through an individual lens which may bring into a new perspective the leading characters and events of that story. It is a story that can never be exhausted, and is always unfolding; that fact, and the narrow, unsatisfactory method of disconnecting teaching, and spiritualising in general practice, are my excuses for attempting to give it as one continual history, 'The Drama of the Ages', whose pivotal centre is Christ Himself and His teaching." - from Preface.
