Caption title. At head of title: "Supreme Court Eastern District of Pennsylvania. July 1847 No. 40." William M. Kennedy claimed that his property running from Maiden St. to the adjacent wharf in the Kensington District of the Northern Liberties at the time not part of the city of Philadelphia included half of the street and the wharf itself. Elihu Duplessis Tarr d. 1851 and John Meredith Read 1797-1874 represented Samuel Tucker Bodine 1810-1879 and the commissioners and residents of Kensington offering the history of the property back to the orignal 1689 grant to Michael Neilson and through its ownership by William Masters and his descendants to show that both the street and the wharf had been public property. 1906réf. 18302Philadelphia: William H. Lambert 1906. Paperback. 8vo. Self-cover. 3pp. Very good. Mild age toning. Lincoln collector extraordinaire Lambert 1842-1912 used to send out lists such as this of Lincolniana he lacked; they worked for he ended up with one of the greatest Lincoln collections in existence though a fire in 1906 destroyed part of it. Monaghan records one such 1906 list noting that "a variant was issued earlier" -- apparently he knew of its existence but was unable to locate a copy to record in his bibliography. This is an example of that scarce pre-1906 want list and it consists of a simple single column list of 108 titles. Fascinating to Most uncommon. MONAGHAN 1504 variant. William H. Lambert paperback

Pioneering Women: Leaders and Trailblazers. 9.5"x6.25" 474 pages. Satisfaction Guaranteed. Women have been shaping the conservation movement in Texas since the nineteenth century though their stories are rarely told. Women played an invaluable role in the establishment of parks protection of wildlife developing policies that value nature and defending communities against pollution and destruction of habitat. Their efforts enriched and reinforced the natural heritage of Texas. Wild Women for Good: Stories of Conservation in Texas celebrates those who dared to step forward to make a difference and to tell the complex story of conservation in the Lone Star state. Wild Women for Good spans a century and a half of conservationists - rural and urban - and the differences they made. Opening with the first conservation movement in Texas and the effort to stop the millenary industry's slaughter of birds for their plumage the book shows how early advocates broke down barriers and opened doors for other women to save and protect species land and water for future generations. Author Jennifer L. Bristol then highlights innovative women who championed the establishment of the state park system preservation of prairies and forests grappled with pollution protected water systems and dedicated their private lands for public purposes - significant because 94 percent of Texas is privately owned. Wild Women for Good concludes with an eye toward the future as the next more diverse generation is called upon to shape and define the conservation movement in Texas. Bristol covers more than sixty individuals and groups: environmental policy makers famous first ladies early land trusts champions and educators. These are women whose stories are as integral to the state's history as the natural landscapes they worked to preserve. Signed by Author. First Edition. Hardcover.
