1965réf. 48027Chicago: Dechert Publications 1965. Very Good. Chicago: Dechert Publications 1965. First Edition. Slim octavo 22cm; publisher's illustrated staple-bound wraps; unpaginated; illustrations and images throughout. Lightly bumped and toned; binding sound. A few annotations in blue ink. Very Good. Curious conspiracy theory pamphlet claiming that "The assassination of the mythical hero Abraham Lincoln was strictly a farce thought up by Phineas T. Barnum." Provides a brief history of Ford Theater where Lincoln's very real assassination took place as well as a description of John Wilkes Booth's genealogy. Features fabricated contributions by Booth's extended family and an absurdly long aside about Swedish opera singer Jenny Lind's relationship with P.T. Barnum. Laid-in at front is a promotional sheet for another equally implausible Dechert booklet. As of May 2026 we locate no copies in OCLC. Dechert Publications unknown
1969réf. 022648Washington DC: Washington Free Press Publisher 1969. Tabloid. Good. Side folding tabloid newspaper format. 24 pp. Black and white photos and illustrations throughout. Early issue of this underground newspaper from the Washington DC area founded by journalist Bill Blum and others in 1966. Editorially it embraced radical politics often in line with the SDS. It covered the resistance to Vietnam War and other Movement issues. This number with interesting layout and typography blending a steampunk and psychedelic look. With pieces on Judge Pugh the shutdown of a music and pro marijuana festival etc. A long poem on the rear cover "Instructions" is attributed to the International Werewolf Conspiracy IWWC. The IWWC was a splinter group formed from the demise of the Up Against the Wall/Motherfuckers organization. Like the Motherfuckers the IWWC used avant-garde art and events to reject the status quo of mainstream society and advocate for an anarchist sort of philosophy. The IWWC embraced the idea of a werewolf as transformational and representative of its aims. The group was rather short-lived primarily creating material from 1969 to 1970 See Flores David A Motherfucker is a Werewolf for previous information. GOOD condition. Horizontal fold crease present. Moderate toning a bit heavier along the edges. Light wrinkling creasing and soiling. Mostly minor chipping and tearing to the extremities with a thin narrow piece missing from the lower front cover edge at the corner. Washington Free Press, Publisher unknown

Members combined their resources to buy in bulk from farmers and suppliers allowing them to access better food at lower prices. The Tucson co-op's commitment to affordable health foods was part of a broader anti-capitalist ethos. "The basic purpose of the Food Conspiracy is to serve the needs of the people" begins Article 7 of the bylaws. "We feel that our purpose would be to provide an economic political and social alternative to the individualistic capitalistic society." The scrappy newsletters are filled with information about women's health United Farm Workers strikes the American Indian Movement and much more providing a window into the turbulence and optimism of 1970s radical liberation movements. 1968réf. 140947056New York: The Pacifist Anarchist Bisexual Psychedelic Conspiracy 1968. Four original 8.5 x 11" single-sided leaflets on various colors of paper by a student group calling itself The Pacifist Anarchist Bisexual Psychedelic Conspiracy which displayed a punky insouciance that was ten years ahead of its time. One titled "Fuck You Punk Freshmen" envisions the first-year students as the oppressed masses who get a talking-to from the group and advice to "smoke dope. gethigh.high." and "ORGASM." Another leaflet is dated in the then-future October 2001 and lists a bunch of abbreviations of radical groups at the time starting with S.D.S. All but the "Freshmen" leaflet are in Near Fine condition; that one shows creases from being folded in eighths. Rare fanciful concrete poetry-influenced and sometimes obtuse protest art from the height of the 1960s at Columbia University. [The Pacifist Anarchist Bisexual Psychedelic Conspiracy] unknown
