If I have captured a feeling, a mood, or a particular look, I thank my models for having inspired me." - Artist. *Hilarious* caricatures of many Canadian Members of Parliament who sat from 1993-1997 by one of their own. Book is clean, bright and unmarked with negligible wear. Lovely copy. After viewing these wonderfully detailed and creative images it is hard not to wonder what the artist actually spent most of his time doing while in Ottawa! His books (usually written under the pseudonym Barry Gray) were extremely popular through the Civil War era, but were quickly forgotten. His humor and observations seemed to lack the bite and originality that made for long-term loyalty and reputation. This particular work, however, contains some entertaining observations on the practice and content of popular publishing in the era. Curious contemporary domestic habits are, of course, discussed in colorful detail. Wright 'American Fiction' II:591. "Marriage is neither heaven nor hell. It is simply purgatory" -- Abraham Lincoln.
