1987réf. 95631987. Justman Robert H. Star Trek: The Next Generation First Season Playback Schedule undated documents the production and playback coordination behind the inaugural season of the television series and provides evidence of the practical processes used to organize material for a major syndicated television production. Star Trek: The Next Generation debuted the week of September 28 1987 launching a seven-season series that ultimately ran through 1994. Justman was among the veterans of the original Star Trek brought into development of the new program and served as supervising producer during its first season; he participated in the series' early creative development and according to the Television Academy worked across matters ranging from set design to script development. The schedule therefore survives from the formative production environment in which Gene Roddenberry and members of the earlier Star Trek team were establishing the personnel procedures and creative framework of the revived franchise. Justman Robert H. Star Trek: The Next Generation First Season Playback Schedule. Undated first season 1987-1988. Signed "Bob Justman." Three pages. Internal playback schedule organizing first-season material offering a production-level record of how programming associated with the series was coordinated rather than a document created for public promotion or fandom. Its association with Justman is particularly relevant: he had worked as associate producer and later co-producer on the original Star Trek before returning two decades later as supervising producer of The Next Generation. The document thus connects two distinct periods of Star Trek production history through a producer directly involved in both and provides primary-source evidence for studying television production practices program coordination and the behind-the-scenes organization of the franchise's 1987 revival. The schedule belongs to the first season in which The Next Generation established a new cast Enterprise and production identity while deliberately drawing on personnel with experience on the original series. Contemporary accounts identify Justman as one of the figures involved in developing the project before production began and his first-season role placed him within the small group responsible for translating the proposed revival into an operating television series. Three pages complete as described signed "Bob Justman"; no date appears on the document. Minor handling wear if any; otherwise excellent corresponding to near fine condition. An unusually direct production document from the inaugural season of Star Trek: The Next Generation strengthened by the signature of a producer whose work connected the original 1960s series with its 1980s successor. unknown books
1993réf. 93131993. Shatner William. Contract granting Interplay Productions license to use recorded scripted material associated with Star Trek characters dated October 19 1993 documents the formal extension of television-era science fiction performance into the rapidly expanding computer software and video game industry of the early 1990s. Best known for portraying Captain James T. Kirk in Star Trek Shatner's authorization reflects the increasing commercialization and technological adaptation of established media franchises during a period when interactive entertainment was emerging as a major cultural and economic force. The agreement explicitly grants "license to use recorded scripted material read by you for use in connection with computer software products incorporating any of the 'Star Trek' characters" establishing a direct connection between actor performance rights and digital media production. Shatner William. Contract. October 19 1993. Agreement between William Shatner and Interplay Productions. The document formalizes the licensing of Shatner's recorded voice work for incorporation into software products tied to the Star Trek franchise indicating the growing role of recognizable character continuity in early multimedia development. Signed prominently in blue ink "William Shatner" the contract preserves both the legal framework and the commercial language governing intellectual property use during a transitional moment in entertainment media. Produced at a time when franchises increasingly migrated from film and television into interactive formats this agreement situates Star Trek within broader developments in digital storytelling licensing practices and the integration of celebrity performance into gaming environments. Such contracts mark the early infrastructure of cross-media franchising that would come to define late twentieth-century entertainment economies. Light handling wear; clean and legible; signature bold. Overall very good condition. unknown books

réf. 158636N.p.: N.p. 1971. Vintage two-color poster for an unseen performance by punk icons the Stooges queer hippie theatre troupe the Cockettes all-girl rock group The GTOs and John Mendelsohn's short-lived rock band Super Star held at the Hollywood Palladium on July 16 1971. The show would ultimately be canceled after The Stooges formally broke up on July 9 1971. A preview of The Cockettes' satirical 1971 film "Tricia's Wedding" was also to have been shown. The film featured The Cockettes reenacting President Nixon's daughter Tricia's wedding to Edward Cox interspersed with a number of humorous scenes including Eartha Kitt spiking the punch bowl with LSD. Even before it was canceled it's hard to imagine how this concert would have come together given the clashing styles of the acts. Founded in 1969 in San Francisco the Cockettes were a performance art group that performed improvised musical numbers in elaborate genderbending costumes and had become a sensation among the West Coast arts and culture scene. The GTOs were a satirical rock band formed in Los Angeles with ties to Captain Beefheart and Frank Zappa who would produce the band's only album Permanent Damage 1969. And the Stooges were simply the Stooges. 11.25 x 26 inches. About Near Fine. N.p. unknown books

1943réf. 53630Tunisia 1943. Nearly Fine. Five-pointed yellow cloth star sewn onto plain beige cloth 7.3 by 9 cm. Yellow dye somewhat faded else in fine state of preservation. Specimen of the yellow star imposed on the Jewish population of Tunisia in March 1943 as a mark of the slave laboror. Tunisia was the only Islamic country to come under Nazi rule at first indirectly through the Vichy regime in France between 1940 and its liberation by Allied forces on May 7 1943. In response to the Allied invasion of Algeria and Morocco German and Italian forces invaded Tunisia on November 9 1942. By the end of November the Germans took the first anti-Jewish move by arresting four of the community leaders including Moïse Borgel the president of the Jewish congregation. "In addition to the governor-general's sympathetic attitude -- and in some degree to the pro-Jewish attitude of Bey Sidi Mohammed al-Mounsaf -- the Italians also in practice interfered with the application of the anti-Jewish laws" E.H. The dignitaries were released after a week following the intervention of the mayor of Tunis and the Italian consul. Because of objections by the Italians the edict to wear the star does not appear to have been generally enforced with rigor and was only formally imposed in two cities Sfax and Tunis. While 5000 Jews had originally been put on forced labor in thirty locations and camps along the front line "at the time of the collapse and surrenter in early May 1943 only sixteen hundred Jews were employed on forced labor" E.H. Given the relatively small labor force and the lack of zeal in imposing the anti-Jewish ordinances it is clear why so few of these yellow badges have survived. References: I. Gutman ed.
